As I shared in January, I’m changing the way I’m approaching my reading goals in 2014. Instead of picking books for the whole year, I’m just choosing books a month at a time.
Here’s my list for April (some of these are repeats from my March list since I didn’t get all the books read in March that I’d hoped to):
12 Books I Plan to Read in April
- I Thought It Was Just Me (But It Isn’t)
- Secrets of Dynamic Communication
- The Busy Homeschool Mom’s Guide to Daylight
- Though Waters Roar
- Red Hot Monogamy
- Breathe
- Chasing Francis
- Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook
- The Measure of Success
- The Traitor’s Wife
- In a Pit With a Lion on a Snowy Day
- Praying for Boys
I also am reading through the Bible using the plan in my Blessing Journal and reading one devotional from Jesus Today every day.
3 Books I Plan to Read Aloud to My Kids

Excited to see Breathe on your list. I started that one a while ago, loved what I read and then it got buried when our family moved. Need to pull it out again and see if it’s as good as I remember.

Loved Red Hot Momogamy! If you haven’t read their first book, Men Are Like Waffles Women Are Like Spaghetti, I highly recommend it. Enjoy! It’s a fun and fairly Auck read!
Tracy S. says
That was supposed to be “quick,” not “Auck.” :-/
Crystal Paine says
We read that a number of years ago and LOVED it!
Denise Flynn says
I totally loved Chasing Francis! Hope you do as well.

Hi Crystal! I recently read an excellent new Christian fiction book called Breathing on Her Own, written by my friend and former colleague, Rebecca Waters. It was a quick & easy read because it drew me in right from the start; I finished it in 2 sittings! It is available in paperback or on Kindle through Amazon. Thanks for allowing me to share my excitement for Becky’s accomplishment.
Crystal Paine says
Thanks so much for the recommendation!

I love Lynn Austin books.
Crystal Paine says
Me, too!

Hey doll, you’ve got “12 Books I Plan to Read in March” in your post. I think you meant April. 🙂
Love these, by the way!
Crystal Paine says
Whoops! Thanks so much for catching that typo!
Jennifer says
My pleasure! Text really can trick the eye.

I really enjoyed the Busy Homeschool Mom’s Guide to Romance (which I just read in February). I haven’t read her Guide to Daylight, but it’s in my pile for this year. I’m also looking forward to hearing Heidi St. John speaking at a homeschool convention near me this year.
Crystal Paine says
Oh, you’ll love hearing her speak! I read the Guide to Romance last year and really enjoyed it!
Jenny @ Women With Intention says
It’s my anniversary month so I am working on one of my marriage books for the year as well as a few others. I’m focusing more on reading with the kids this month as my twins in Kindergarten are struggling a bit sounding out words. Here’s my list: http://womenwithintention.com/april-2014-reading-list/

I can’t wait to see how you like these books! What a fun list!

I will be very interested to see what you think of JJJRH. After all the hoopla I heard about this book, I was a little disappointed. It was hard for me as a solopreneur/blogger to have a strong list of takeaway bullet points.
And I’m all about takeaway bullet points. LOL!
Victoria says
I never really decide what to read until I finish what I am currently reading. I am a very “in the mood” type reader. I just finished “How She Does It” and am reading through “Made To Crave” for the second time. I also have “Good Hope Road” sitting in the want to read soon pile.

lol. Whatever’s available in Audiobook from my local library’s eCollection. I’m currently listening to The Inheritance.
And I’m going to be working my way through the book of Exodus.
