So, I did really well with keeping to my goal of getting up early all of last week. But by the weekend, I was quite tired. In fact, I came home from church on Sunday and took a two-hour nap–something I rarely ever do!
But I began this week feeling refreshed and ready to hit the ground running, even if things weren’t in as neat and organized of shape as I was hoping! Getting up early helped me to gain a lot of traction last week and I hope the momentum continues and I can get even further ahead this week. Just remind me to do better about going to bed before 10 p.m. 🙂
And here are this week’s goals:
Family/Mothering Goals
1. Read Little Town On the Prairie aloud to the children.
2. Take pictures of the children with our just-hatched chicks every day for the photo book I’m doing of our chick-hatching experience.
3. Put together Operation Christmas Child boxes with the children.Personal Goals
4. Finish reading EntreLeadership, He Heard Hannah, Kisses from Katie, Getting Things Done, and Becoming a Woman of Influence. {So, ahem, I totally skipped out on reading what I was supposed to read and got engrossed in two other books instead.}
5. Go to bed early and get up early, as part of my 21 Days to a More Disciplined Life Challenge (more on that in a few hours).6. Run 10 miles. {I ran 4 miles, so that’s progress, at least!}
Home Management Goals
7. Do at least one load of laundry from start to finish every week day.
8. Make homemade Shower Cleaner.Business Goals
9. Email all bloggers who are reviewing my book when it releases.
10. Write daily posts for the 21 Days to a More Disciplined Life series.

I would love to know the freezer meals you are making for the holidays!!??!
Crystal says
Don’t worry, I’ll be sharing! I have a special project I’m working on and will be unveiling not too soon using the freezer cooking I do for the holidays!
Anna says
I would love to hear what you think about “Getting Things Done.” I must be a procrastinator because I have had “Getting Things Done” on audiobook for a couple of years now and I haven’t gotten around to listening to it… 🙂
Crystal says
Thank you for continuing to do this weekly post. I actually look forward to looking at my list and seeing what I get done each week. I think as a stay-at-home mom it is easy to feel like you haven’t done anything. This helps me fight that negative thought!
Heather W says
wow good job on last week! 🙂

Love the photobook of the chicks idea – the photobooks I have made my boys are one of their favorite things and they get looked at several times a week (and some of the books are 3 years old!)
If you need a shortbread recipe for your baking I just shared my favorite – I’ve been making it for ten years and it’s really incredible AND it just hit me the other day that it’s GLUTEN FREE – which is fabulous since we’re starting down that road with our three year old.

Sounds like you had a great week! I’ll be interested in those book reviews. I’m supposed to be moving into a management position at work, so I need to read everything on leadership I can get my hands on.
After a really off week two weeks ago I had a much better week last week, and the momentum is carrying through to this week.
Chelsea says
Yay! I’m so proud of you for staying on top of your laundry, way to go!
Carolyn says
Ok, seriously, when do you find time to read so much?!? I loooove reading but with three kids age three and under, I can’t seem to fit it in. But I miss it so much and keep collecting books I hope to get to! Please share how you do it! 🙂
Liz @ Wonder Woman I'm Not says
Way to go crossing those items off your list. As far as the nap, sometimes we just have to give in and do it. I don’t take naps as often as I would like to but when I have a Sunday afternoon that I just crash I figure it’s my body knowing what it needs when the mind refuses to listen.
Carrie Bergherm says
I think I need to put Operation Christmas Child on my list too… We’ve started gathering some items, but we need to do more. Well… that’s it. Gotta add it: #11 on my list… Posted a link to my goals above.
Denise C. says
Big goal for the week: scrub house from top to bottom, family is coming into town next week. It’s all good because I love giving my home a good deep clean. I am enlisting my kids and husband for help too!
Koree says
Mine goal of getting ahead on my schoolwork was going well until I got a nasty virus that knocked me out. Hopefully, my 4 upcoming presentations will still go well!
Tshanina says
Crystal, I’m amazed at how many books you read at one time. I guess I’m a little OCD because I don’t like to start one book until I finish one.
Instead of creating weekly goals for myself, I created some goals for the rest of the month. Here’s my post if you’re interested:

My goal this week is to keep the house clean in anticipation of hosting Thanksgiving at our house this year. I’m also determine to compile addresses for our Christmas card list in an attempt to get ahead and stay ahead!!
Jessica @ The Abundant Wife says
I love that you’re doing chick-hatching with your kids! I would love to try something like that. I’ve actually been asking around about it recently, to hear how it’s done. I’m looking forward to hearing all about it, and seeing all your photos! 🙂
Crystal @ Coupon Out Of Debt says
Wow that’s awesome! You’ve accomplished a lot in such a short time with running. I have heard good things about P90x. I am trying to figure out ways to just get out there and do it without worrying about my knee so much.
I am trying to lose weight so the impact doesn’t hurt my knee anymore, and going outside and running/walking would definitely help me lose weight. I had surgery years ago but the knee flared up when I gained weight. Now it is just getting up and moving! I need some motivation. 🙂
Stephanie says
If you have knee problems you may not be able to run, but start with just walking. It’s great exercise! There is actually mixed thoughts on if running is good for you because it is high impact. So don’t feel bad just being a walker.
Jacquelyn says
Getting to bed early and waking up early is definitely the hardest goal on my list! I can’t wait for your goal #9 tomorrow morning! 🙂
Kimberly at HomemakingExpert says
I love your blog! You make me want to be a better woman! 🙂 Thank you!
Crystal @ Coupon Out Of Debt says
I wish I could run 1/2 mile! 🙂
Crystal says
Two years ago, I couldn’t run more than a half mile. I did P90X and then was able to run 1.5 miles without stopping. I’ve since worked up to being able to run a 5K without stopping–which is a huge accomplishment for someone who thought she’d never be able to run more than a half mile.
You can do it!! Just start out really slow and gradually increase your mileage–and don’t let yourself feel like you can’t.
Denise C. says
Start off slow! I’ve been a runner for 2 years now, and never in a million years thought I’d love it as much as I do! It took me a good month + a few weeks to run 1 full mile! Now I have several 5k’s, 10k’s, a half marathon under my belt, and my first full marathon coming up!
Cheers!
Heather says
Google “Couch to 5K workouts” – they’re very gradual but you find yourself accomplishing alot in a short amount of time! 8-9 weeks to be able to run a 5K! There are tons of free sites that have it listed. I found an app on my iPhone (the trial version was free, then like $2 to get the rest of the workouts) that actually told me when to run and when to walk, etc. It was nice because I could still play music and my music would pause whenever the guy would tell me to switch.
I’ve stalled out on week number 2, but I’ll get there eventually! Keep at it!
Bridgette @ Blessings Multiplied says
I hit some goals but missed several last week. The week started off strong then I lost steam (felt like I was fighting getting the cold the rest of my family had). This week is pretty packed full but hoping to accomplish a lot.
Thanks for the link up Crystal! Helps keep me accountable! 🙂
Kimberlee says
I love it when I can get a Sunday afternoon nap! It usually happens because I haven’t been following the early to bed, early to rise rule though! 🙂
Food on the Table says
Impressive, you knocked out almost everything on your list! I think posting a to do list would help me, just to add some extra incentive, even if it’s just the refrigerator door for a few to see.
Heather @ Family Friendly Frugality says
You crack me up. I could never keep my head in that many books at once!
Kelly Cain says
My post today is all about realigning goals with the purpose of our family thanks to this 3 big questions for a frantic family book. It’s fantastic. I highly recommend it.
Stephanie says
What is the name of the book?
Kelly says
The title of the book is “The 3 Big Questions for a Frantic Family”
Trish @ Finances With Funk says
Great job last week Crystal! You did awesome on crossing off most of your list. I love productivity.
I’m going to have that week, THIS week! 🙂
That’s the plan anyway.
