4 Weeks to a More Organized Home: Assignment #13 (update)

4 Weeks to a More Organized Home

I’m so excited about how many of you are joining us for the 4 Weeks to a More Organized Home Challenge! If you missed today’s assignment, you can find it here.

4 Weeks to a More Organized Home

For yesterday’s assignment, I cleaned the tops of the kitchen cupboards. Even though I haven’t done this chore for almost a year, I was really encouraged to notice that they weren’t too dusty.

I found this pile of what I thought was crumbs and was wondering where on earth it came from… until I realized that it was pieces of the ceiling. Hmm, maybe that was from splattering that pot of food on the ceiling not too long ago and trying to wipe it up?

Yes, don’t ask how I manage to splatter food on the ceiling. I’m talented like that. ;)

The top of the refrigerator wasn’t too bad. Since I’m short, I can’t see up there without jumping up to take a peek or standing on a stepstool or chair, so I wasn’t sure what I’d find. Ah, the joys of being vertically challenged! :)

4 Weeks to a More Organized HomeIck! I did end up finding quite a bit of dirt… so glad to have that all wiped off!

The pile of stuff from the kitchen cupboards I found to get rid of/pass on.

How you do on Assignment #13? I’d love to have you share your progress and success with us so we can be inspired. Either post a link to your blog post below or leave a comment with your update.

    Our cabinets go up to the ceiling, and I got the top of the fridge recently, so I decided to tackle our cookbook and reusable grocery bag shelves. We filed a bunch of loose recipes and came up with a stack of cookbooks and cooking magazines to let go of. Now we have more space there for canning jars! Making a little bit of progress each day!

    I accidentally left a link on here instead of Giveaways Galore. It’s #4. I did submit #3 as well. Thank you for these awesome linkies and sorry for the mistake!

    I had to chuckle when I read about you splattering food onto your ceiling. One time I was trying to make a smoothie in my blender, and the blender wouldn’t run. I removed the lid to peer inside when the blender suddenly started running. My smoothie shot up and hit the ceiling. If you look closely, you can still see a faint stain on my ceiling from that awful mess!

    I managed to get my cabinets wiped down and fridge cleaned off as well as catch up on the vacuuming from the day before. I also got rid of another bag of stuff to donate – like all of my husband’s “regular” ties since he’s been only wearing bow ties for more than 5 years.

    I have a really gross grime/grease layer on the top edge of my top cabinets and the top edge of a trim above them. I couldn’t get it off with anything I tried. Anyone have an idea?

    I never thought to clean the top of the cupboards! Maybe that is why i am having bad allergies and my hubby keeps having asthma (well i think he has asthma b/c i have it and recognize the signs!) What do u use in addition to water? Dish soap?

        That was a ecloth you were using completely different then “just water” . Although I am fairly loyal to norwex I could tell that was a ecloth. ;) Did you switch to ecloth?

          Someone sent me one to try. :) {And thanks so much for mentioning that I used a microfiber cloth — you are absolutely right that it is so much better than a normal rag and water. In fact, I’m always amazed at how well it works with water and a little elbow grease!}
