…free drink or “foot” item? ;-)

    • Crystal February 28, 2013 at 12:46 pm

You mean you haven’t seen their new line of foot products? You must get yourself to Starbucks soon to check them out. ;)

      {No, in all seriousness, thanks for catching that crazy typo!}

Just enrolled and my $5.oo has already been credited! This just made my day! Thank you!

      Woot!

Forgive my ignorance, but can you get a Starbuck’s card at a Starbuck’s, or do you have to order it from them? Is it a gift card? Because it says I have to ‘buy’ a Starbucks card, so I’m not sure if they are charging a fee or if they are turning a gift card into a loyalty card or what. Can you tell I don’t really drink coffee? I do like those milkshake things they make, though. I’ve had them a couple of times and they are yummy!

    Thanks!

If you already have one, you can just register it — even if it’s empty. Or, you can get one at Starbucks and load $1 on it (or some small amount) and then register it to get the free $5 gift card.

I wanted to let you know that the FAQs on their rewards program page show that there is a $5 minimum on a new card or there is a digital option. This is copied frm the site:

I don’t have a Starbucks Card. How can I get the $5 offer?

Good question! You can either …
Pick up a Starbucks Card from your local store and register it online. A $5 minimum load is required.
Download the Starbucks mobile app, create an account and get a digital card.

Whoops on that! Thanks for letting us know.

If you have a smartphone, it looks like you can download the app for free and register it.

i got it! Thanks Crystal and Kristie :)

I had a gift card already so I registered that but after going through all the information there was no indication that I received the $5. So on the site I called the 800 number and went through the prompts and when it gave the balance on the card I saw the $5 added.
Thanks for this tip, it’s a nice bonus!

Just enjoyed my birthday drink today as I was grocery shopping. I was surprised they added it to my card so early, but I took full advantage of it!

Crystal, you used to do giveaways for Visa gift cards a while back. Is there any way you could do that again? Or maybe Amazon gift cards?

This is awesome!! I had a card in my purse, left from Christmas with only a $1.12 on it. I registered it, and sure enough…there’s $5 added to it! How cool is that!?! I called DH right away and told him I was taking him out tonight for coffee on me! Chillin’ at Starbucks for free…what a relaxing mini-date!

I just did it with an e-card with only $.81 on it! I’m wondering if it would work with the free FB offer they did for the Blonde Roast.

Anytime you can save on Starbucks is awesome :)

  • Rebekah February 28, 2013 at 09:59 pm

Wonderful! I happened to have a card from a livingsocial deal a while back ($5 for $10 of starbucks)…was able to use the e-card number and get another $5 added on! Thanks so much!

Thank you, Crystal! I was given a $5 gift card recently. I simply used that card to register online and within 5 minutes the $5 was added. I’m not a coffee drinker but I do enjoy the hot chocolate at Starbucks so this will be a nice treat!

  • Jan March 01, 2013 at 01:37 pm

So I don’t need to make a new whole account?

  • Kimber March 12, 2013 at 10:42 pm

Thanks! My husband came home from a convention with a 2 $5 gift cards to Starbucks. We’re not coffee drinkers, but I just registered my card, and the $15 will be awesome to spend on a date night – hot chocolate for him, a smoothie for me, dessert for both of us!! Thanks so much for sharing!

    • Jessica March 14, 2013 at 06:26 pm

I purchased a giftcard today and registered it and it is not showing my $5 that they have advertised. I am super bummed. I could totally use an extra $5 at starbucks!
