Free Funnix Beginning Math Program ($32 value)

by Crystal on December 12, 2012

Through December 15, 2012, you can download the Funnix Beginning Math Program for free.

Details on this program:

The Funnix Beginning Math Program is a 100-lesson computer program designed for children who have not learned beginning math operations.

All components of Funnix Beginning Mathare included in the download—100 animated, computer-based lessons, workbook material, a teaching guide, and a placement test for assessing the child.

The program is unique in the sophistication of skills it teaches in only 100 lessons. Children learn different types of counting. They use counting by tens and counting by ones to solve addition problems that traditionally require carrying. For example: 45+35.

Be assured that this program is FREE. No hidden charges, gimmicks, or costs for handling and shipping.

Funnix Beginning Math is very user friendly. Like Funnix Beginning Reading, the math program is computer-based. Narrators direct the activities in each 35-minute lesson. A child or a small group of children watch the computer screen with a parent or teacher. The children answer questions the narrator presents. The parent or teacher reinforces correct responses and directs the program to repeat parts that were difficult for the children.

Looks like a great program! Does anyone know what age/grade this is geared for? I can’t seem to find that info anywhere on the website.

From what it says, it looks like it’s for a beginner — so I’d say Kindergarten or 1st grade.

That’s what I was thinking, but I saw a reference to double digit addition on the website and couldn’t remember when they started working on those types of problems. Probably too advanced for my 3 year old and too basic for my other kids but a great freebie for those who can use it!

This looks like a good one! I hope I remember to get the reading one next week!

    Thanks for posting!
I think my 3 year old son is a little too young…but nonetheless free!

We used this the last time they offered it for free and it is a FANTASTIC program! My now kindergartener started it when he was just barely 4 and he is now fully capable of adding and subtracting with double digits, understands basic fractions, can comprehend word problems, and more! Considering that his kinder class is still working through writing numbers and barely solving +1 problems, he’s far ahead – due to this program. It’s incredibly simple to navigate, you can pause, fast forward, or rewind if you need to repeat something. In later lessons, we found some things to be too repetitive for him so we were able to skip through them without him missing something important. I love, though, that it builds a very firm foundation early on of numbers and counting, and the learning curve is very gradual to ensure a solid grasp of the concepts. We’ve just begun this with our second son (currently 4yr, 2mo) and even with a very different learning style (he tends to be very kinesthetic, so I give him a squishie ball or something to hold while he interacts with the screen), he’s taken right to it as well. I would encourage anyone with kids from 3 on up to download this because we’ve had such great success with it! HTH someone!

Thank you so so so much! This will be the perfect math supplement to our first year of homeschooling next year. We needed it as we will be using My Fathers World
which is very light on the math!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I never would have found this except for MSM! I checked out reviews on some homeschooling sites; this looks like a winner! Seems like they will be offering their reading program free too, starting 12/16. We are currently on “Christmas break” but look forward to using this when we start back up.

This looks like a great supplement for my struggling 1st grader. Thanks!

My son is only 18 months old so this program is too advanced for him but I am downloading it anyway because I know eventually we will use it when he is older. Thanks. =)

Thanks! We’ve been using their reading program and love it.
