There’s an unadvertised deal at CVS this week that looks like it’s still working:
Buy 1 Skintimate Gel at $4.19
use $0.55/1 coupon from the 1/15 SmartSource insert
Spend $3.64 plus tax out of pocket, Get $4 ECBs
This has been verified to work up to five times (or for a total of five). Though supposedly, the limit might be higher.
I can’t guarantee that this will work, but definitely check your store and let us know if you try it.

My CVS is selling Skintimate shaving cream 7oz for $3.99 and offering a $4.00 Extra Buck back on EVERY can you purchase. Limit of 100 per household! I just bought 10 cans and out printed $40 Extra Bucks with my receipt! This was my first big savings experience and I had to share!
Woot! Thanks so much for letting us know! Crazy!!!! Now I’m really wishing I had a CVS nearby!
Hello! Anyone try this in North Carolina?
I’m in NC, Katie. I must have been posting my comment below at the same time as you.
I am in Jacksonville NC, this worked for me yesterday and some cans had $2.00 off coupons! I brought 4 cans!!!
Yes, I can verify too! The tag says limit 100! I didn’t want to go overboard, but I bought 16, and left a bunch on the shelf. They all gave back Extrabucks. Look for a display on the endcaps because the cans on the displays had $2 peelies, making each can a $2 moneymaker!
Woot!!!!
Thanks, Mary Ellen! I’m hoping to get some coupons this week in the mail from friends (We don’t get any here at Camp Lejeune) so hopefully our CVS will still be stocked and doing this deal! Yay!
I am also in jacksonville, nc. The gas station across from the Piney Green Gate and the Daily News had Smartsources and P&G! This is the first time i had seen P&G in jacksonville newspapers!
I can just see the shelf-clearers taking out all the stock on this deal what with the limit of 100?!!
Anyone know whether CVS will offer rainchecks on this deal? I have two coupons and would like to buy some but do not want to drag my kids all over creation.
It’s iffy Jessica. One of my stores had the tags on the Skintimate, and one did not. If they have the tags on them, they might give you a raincheck, but it probably just depends on how coupon-friendly your stores are. I wish I could virtually give you some of mine through the computer!
I just went to my store in GA and bought 4 of them. My receipt says I bought 4 of 5 to reach my limit. My guess is CVS is catching on to this 100 limit glitch and changing it to 5. Even with just 5….it’s a fantastic deal!
I’m new to this and a CVS just opened in my town yesterday. I have one coupon for 55 cents off. Isn’t that only good for one can? How can someone buy 10 cans and make money on this? What can the Extra Care bucks be used for?
To buy 10 cans you’d need 10 coupons. You can use Extra Bucks on almost any product in the store, except for things like prescriptions and probably alcohol if your CVS carries it. You can’t buy gift cards with them either. You do have to be careful to use them before they expire though. The most dedicated folks roll them over by buying other things that give them more ExtraCare Bucks with the bucks they have. Trying to spend as little out of pocket as possible.
Hi, Paula! The one coupon is good for one can. Extra Care Bucks can be used for almost anything in the store on your next purchase; the exclusions are listed on the ECB itself. If you look at the top bar on this page, click on Store Deals, Click on CVS, and then click on CVS 101, you’ll find a rundown of the basics of shopping at CVS. That’s great that you have a CVS in town — there are some great deals to be had there!
I bought 2 cans with coupons to see if it worked, and i got 8 extrabucks back. then i went back and got greeting cards and 3 more cans!! the limit on the tag says 100, but im guessing thats a mistake that will be fixed soon. 5 cans is good enough for me, and will last a long time. =) sorry you dont have a cvs, Crystal!!!
great post. ‘m going to go to cvs today for this. thanks a bunch!
The tags were also by the Shick Hydro Shave Gel in our store, so I grabbed 2 of those for my husband. The ECBs did not automatically generate, but my cashier verified it and printed them out manually. They were priced at $4.19 each, and I got back $4 ECBs for each. I’ll do a $0.19 can of shaving gel any day! I’m in Mankato, MN.
Just got back from CVS. Skintimate was priced at $3.69 in Texas and generated the $4.00 ECB. There were large signs on the shelves that said “Limit 1.” I’m guessing the 100 was a typo. I only purchased one, and noticed on my receipt that it did not say that I had reached the limit on the deal. I thought about going back and purchasing more, but don’t feel right taking advantage of a mistake on the store’s part.
Same here in DFW on the price but no signs on the shelf. I bought one to test out and since it worked I got 2 more. The cashier was impressed and said she was going to get one for herself (so funny how WE know more than them!) and I even offered her my last coupon. I decided against using the 4 that I had since I didn’t want to end up with a really high value extra buck as that becomes somewhat useless to me if the freebies are cheaper. I prefer to make small purchases to keep rolling my ECBs, even if I have a good amount.
There were no signs at either of my stores, but they were out so I guess it was working.
Forgot a signet my store manager was super rude and called me a liar said there would b no way they would forget to take a sign down. Wouldn’t honor he said a corporate email went to all stores this morning to remove all signage the mistake had been fixed I have had not had good experiences the last several times regardless of which location I visit this was the last straw as far as I’m concerned there is no reason to call me a liar in front of my 3 kids
I had an experience with a cvs store manager not wanting to accept coupons, and called the number on the receipt and left a complaint message. I doubt my call alone had an effect, but I think it helps, especially the way you were treated! Oh and they changed managers, not sure why though, now I am back to lovin’ my cvs!
This worked for me in NYC for both 7oz & 10oz Skintimate shave gels (both scanned at $3.99). No overage though as the Skintimate coupon is not in my 1/15 Smartsource region, but Free is still awesome.
PS: I purchased 1 at a time & on my 1st receipt print out it said under ‘Schick’ that I had ’1 purchase towards reward & 1 needed to earn reward’, so I purchased another. My receipt print out now says ’2 towards reward & 1 needed to earn reward’– so the limit is unclear. I will only press my luck with 2 more cans.
mine was priced $3.79 here in cleveland, OH. no signage, but i got the extra buck. i haven’t reached the limit according to my receipt. a nice little money maker. . . thanks, crystal!
this worked for me, and I didn’t see limits posted in the store, or printed on my receipt.
I did have to drive to a few different stores to find enough cans (thankfully we have several within a few miles of each other), as there were just a few on the shelves left in each store.
I’ll be donating the deals I scored to a local domestic violence shelter – thanks for posting!
I’m a little confused…are you buying all the cans in one transaction? Or are you buying one, then using your ecb to get the next one for free?
Stephanie – I did both. The first store I went to only had 1 can, so I bought it using the 55 cent coupon (and I happened to have an ECB from a previous purchase, so it also brought the price down). Then the next store I went to had two cans, so I used $4 ECB from store #1 plus two 55 cent Qs, so I paid $2 and some change (I think?), and then it printed $8 in ECB.
Hope tha thelps.
Lucky me… Someone already cleared the shelves at all five CVS stores near me & demanded the ECBs from the all too when they didn’t print. No rainchecks either since it wasn’t in the ad. Sigh.
I was just at one CVS last night – saw about 20 of them behind the counter and asked if I could buy 2. They said no, they were all just sold… which was odd since they were just sitting there. So this morning I stopped by a different CVS on the way to work – there were no signs there, and there were a full shelf of them. I got 9, leaving about 30 behind, broke them up into 3 transactions and the cashier was clueless to why I was doing that. She was just surprised to see the $12 extrabucks that kept on printing!
I was going to get a couple at my store this morning. Cashier told me about having to pull all the Skintimate from the shelves until the glitch is fixed. It is supposed to be a month long Feb. deal, but not limit 100. And to get $4 ecb you are supposed to buy 2 is what she said, but she wasn’t certain of details. They will put back on shelf when glitch is corrected, she said. (And this is not a “snotty” cashier, she is awesome!)
This deal is NOT working in Montgomery, Alabama. Ugh!:(
Not working in Columbus, Ohio. There wasn’t any little shelf signs either. I talked with the cashier and manager since we are friends and they told me to buy one and see if any ECBs print up and if not they’d refund it. Well, no EBCs printed so they refunded my purchase. Bummer!
LOL. just came from a different CVS – got the only 3 Skintimate that they had in the store and no Extrabox printed. So I just return them and left. Of well.
They would not honor it here in Oklahoma. And then they got mad when I chose to return the cans because the ECBs didn’t print out. They said that they “never do unadvertised Extra Care Buck deals.” Anyway. The local CVS is a pretty rude place….usually prefer Walgreens.
My CVS had the stickers right by the 7 oz cans, so I bought 2. It did NOT print out ECB (I live in Auburn, AL). The cashier refused to do anything about it (she said it was mismarked, but seemed clueless about the whole thing). I persisted, and finally the assistant store manager manually gave me the ECB. Quite a hassle, though!
Just returned from a CVS and this deal is no longer working. I saw the tag this weekend when I was there and asked the manager if they were included – because it said the product name and then “Buy select Schick/Skintimate products, get $4 in ECB”. She wasn’t sure and came to the conclusion that they may or may not print, but they were not supposed to be part of the promotion. She also took the stickers down advertising the ECB. I didn’t buy one then (wasn’t figured into my intense planning) but went to try today and did not get the ECB. They must have made the change in the system!
It worked for me around 9 am in Virginia. Price was $3.79 but no signage so I just tried one and I did get a $4EB. I had to run for a meeting so I figured I’d stop in and get another on my way home (there were about 9 on the shelf and I only had 2 coupons) but they were all gone when I returned. So I don’t know whether it was a shelf cleaner, or the management pulled them.
Update to my previous comment:
I went to CVS again tonight to get 2 more cans as I mentioned before– this time I actually saw the end cap for the Schick products stating the $4 EBC promotion; it also had the cans with the $2 coupon sticker as others mentioned. I purchased 2 Hydro Gels & while the EBC’s did not print, my receipt still reflected the purchase under ‘Schick Buy 1 Get $4 EBC’s). I figured it was worth it to try & address the manager about it but as expected it was a 10 min ordeal as he could not reference/prove the promotion in the flyer. He said he was confused about the whole thing because my receipt & the info on the end cap proved I was right. Based on this he reluctantly issued me $4 EBC’s so I returned the other can. He said he would contact corporate about it & I can call the store & follow up with him in 2 hrs, which I just did. He only just confirmed what I now know from doing a Google search & seeing all the updates. Apparently they fixed this glitch today. Oh well, good while it lasted! I’m happy with my 3 cans.
I went in to a CVS yesterday morning and the deal worked, but they only had two cans of shaving cream, so I only bought one.
Hit another CVS in the afternoon and bought 2 of their 4 cans and nothing happened – my receipt said I had made 1 purchase toward my reward and still needed 1 more to claim the reward. Which, oddly enough, is what it said on the receipt that DID print the ECB. So I figured I’d contact corporate today and find out if they’ll give me the ECBs or if I should just return these. (Since it was unadvertised and there was no signage at our local stores, I didn’t figure the manager would be too knowledgeable.)
My store had the signage, and I bought 1, but ECB did not print. I called the customer service line. They verified my purchase and issued my ECB to my card. They said there was a mistake on the signage. The limit on this deal is 1, not 100. They have been getting calls from people who purchased several and only had $4 ECB printed.
I went to my cvs yesterday I bought a can yes only one and I did’t get any thing back I asked the cashier why she didn’t know so she called the maneger and she told me I had to buy the shaving cream and the razer. I think thats not fair that everyone else is getting this great offer but my cvs is not letting me
Did NOT work at my CVS in Rossville, IN.
There were $2 peelies on the cans, so I was pretty excited, but no ECBs printed. The display said a $4 would print if you bought the razors, not the shave cream
My store’s manager said that the deal is supposed to be on the new razors. Eventually he agreed that the signage was confusing and so gave me the two $4 EBs. I wouldn’t've gotten the EBs if I hadn’t been a bit forceful.
I suspect the stores will be happy when this promotion is over.
It didn’t work for me at my CVS in California. I asked 2 different employees and they said No
Bummer.
