Rachel over at Frugal and Simple shows you how to make a draft stop to cut down on heating costs this winter. I couldn’t get her picture to load on my blog for some odd reason, so I snagged one from Door Sixteen who also posted a similar tutorial.

Do you think something like this would work well at all for windows? We’re in an apartment, so the main door isn’t an issue – just the sliding door and windows.

Have you thought about plastic window insulation for your windows? When my husband and I were first married we lived in married student housing (built in the 70s with non-energy efficient single pane windows!) We used the plastic insulation and it worked great!
To make a draft stop, I used a beach towel, rolled it up and tied the ends with rubber bands.
@Nellie, Interesting idea. Does it really work? If so, I’m all over this one.

it totally works for me. we also use this on an inner door (laundry room to hallway) and you can wrap half the towel on each side of the door and you can still open and close the door.

I made one of these not for the draft but for noise. My grandpa lives in a house attached to ours and we were a little too noisy for him, that is until I made one of these! They work great! I’ve thought about making them for baby shower gifts so babies can nap without noise!
I filled mine with lentils!
