In the past few years, I’ve learned a lot about book publishing. Mostly, I’ve learned a lot of things NOT to do. (It seems I rarely ever learn anything the easy way. I have to make big mistakes instead. Sigh.)
If you’re interested in publishing a book, you’ll want to check out this video interview I did recently with my friend, Bryan Allain. In it, I share:
+ Why I’ve loved traditional publishing
+ What major mistakes I made in writing my first book
+ Why I surround myself with solid writing from different genres
+ How I analyze every book I read
+ How my publisher had me define the audience for my next book — and how helpful it was
+ Why I almost never write in coffee shops
+ What my ideal writing conditions are and how I’ve set up my office to be conducive to that
And a bit of my goofy, scatter-brained personality comes through in the video, too. 🙂
Psst! As mentioned in the video, my new book, Say Goodbye to Survival Mode, comes out in January 2014. I can’t wait to tell you more about it soon. In the mean time, you can read more about it or pre-order a copy here.
Good questions and answers. IDK why but you remind me of Hermoine (sp?) from Harry Potter, which is a good thing. Yay Fall! Congrats on the new book and them footing the bill lol 🙂
Great interview. That was fun to watch.
Thank you so much for sharing with us your ups and downs and growth and changes. It’s amazing to watch you grow and stretch yourself. You have inspired me so much over the years! I only wish I have the blessing of meeting you in person some day 🙂
Yes! I do hope we get the chance to meet in person!
Happy Birth-Month! (October is the best!!)
Great job! I am looking forward to your next book.
Great interview Crystal! You seem so natural and confident. You’ve really refined your public speaking skills over the last few years!
Thank you so very much for your kind encouragement!
Why did he ask if your middle name was Jessica?? Hahaha!
Because Bryan is just like that. 🙂
I have issues.
(and that’s what I do in all our other author interviews. Again, because I have issues.)
I thought it was a mix up because your husbands name is Jesse haha
Great interview, Crystal! You are one of the most disciplined people I’ve ever come across. Not surprised that you’ve had so much success. You work hard at it! Good for you. I hope your books sell well.
Thank you so much for your kind encouragement! I’m so blessed to have so many amazing readers who constantly encourage and inspire me!
Great interview! I like how easy going it was and how you gave insight of your publishing experience. Hope you have a great day!
This is awesome, Crystal! Loved watching you talk and seeing your fun personality. Thanks for the insight on working with a publisher vs self publishing. And Happy Birthday!
Thanks so much for your kind encouragement! Bryan’s great, isn’t he?!
