I just had to share my husband’s brilliant idea for getting us all to drink more water. He came up with this all on his own, went and found a jar at Kohls to use (Amazon has a similar jar available), and has been making new flavored water combinations for us every day.
This is working SO well… And it makes me kind of feel like I’m staying at a high-end resort every time I get a glass of water!
If you’re looking for Flavored Water Recipes, check out this post for lots of ideas and suggestions. I think my favorites so far are lemons, limes, and oranges. We want to try out using some fresh herbs, too, and are hoping to do that soon!
Have you tried Flavored Water before? If so, what are your favorite combinations?
P.S. Silas was working on making hard boiled eggs when I took this photo… I thought you’d appreciate the open cupboard and real-life in the background. Because trust me, just because we have fancy water, it doesn’t mean the house cleans itself or that we don’t have plenty of real-life going on around here!! 🙂

Thank you for posting this! It will just enhance our day and I am sure my kids will love drinking fancy water!

My mom and I love using Lemon Verbana leaves in our water. We love the flavor and 1-2 leaves a drink is plenty. We’ve bought a plant from the nursery the last couple years and grow it in a pot on the porch. (They don’t survive the winter here so we buy new every year.)

I have a question. I found a pretty jar like this, a little smaller. Do I just plop the fruit in and mint leaves? Or do I smush them? I’m afraid it’ll clog the spigot if I smush them. I can’t wait to try this!!

Awesome. I love this. As per a house that cleans itself, I just invested in a robot vacuum. I purchased a budget-friendly model that received good reviews on Amazon. Loving it!

This is a great idea! We like to pick fresh herbs from our gardens and put them in our water. Mint, rosemary, and basil all work well.
If we want to get really fancy, we put mint in sparkling water, like this: http://everydayintentionalliving.com/refreshing-sparkling-mint-drinks-or-virgin-mint-juleps/

We do the same! I love it also when company comes over and we are sitting outside it keeps me from having to keep running in the house for refills

Peach and fresh sage is a tasty combination, as well as cucumber and basil. I love any combo with cucumber in it; it is so refreshing!
Tim says
Fresh mint leaves will work great.
Definitely my favorite flavor.
Lisa says
Second the cucumber/mint combo. I also love lemon/mint and ginger/tangerine. I remember one spa that I had visited froze the ginger in a huge ice ring to put inside the dispenser. So good!

Great idea! One question…what do you do if you don’t drink it all in one day? Can you leave it out overnight? Or do you just fill it as full as you know you can drink in one day?

I love this idea! I just finished making up a jar of pineapple water from the core that you have to cut from a whole pineapple that is too tough. I just throw those spears in a jar and fill with water. It tastes like dessert!
Diana says
Oh, what a good idea! I hate throwing what feels like so much pineapple away. Will try this.
And I definitely second the fresh mint–it makes an amazing flavored water! Cucumbers are surprisingly refreshing too.

Most days I just flavor my water with lime juice, but another flavor I really like is berries and pineapple with some fresh mimt. I just make one glass at a time so I crush the fruit a bit in the glass to release the flavor, then add a few crushed mint leaves and fill the glass with water. Yum!

I just bought ingredients to do this for the first time this past weekend and made two large pitchers and have been loving it!! My first batch was strawberries, fresh mint, lime juice, & lemon slices.

That sounds amazing!! I’m going to try it!!

I made strawberry water for youth group on Sunday night and they actually loved it! I thought they should have something special along side the chocolate fountain. hehe
Crystal Paine says
Oh, I love that idea!

We love using fresh mint from the garden during the summer. So tasty!

That is a fantastic idea as well! I am going to have to add that into our things to try! Thanks!

I think I saw this on your Facebook yesterday and told my husband about it as well! What a fantastic idea, I wish I would have thought about it :-), but we are going to be implementing the same idea! I desperately need to drink more water! Thanks for sharing real life with us!
