What store do you choose for Aldi on MobiSave & Checkout51?
Penny says
I love seeing the difference in prices between the US and the UK. I find it really interesting as it helps me see if the recipes I find on US blogs are cheap to make in the UK.
All in all it seems to balance, some things are a bit dearer and some a little bit cheaper, but what really shocked me is the price of the butter: $2.69 is over £2! I get mine in Lidl (same kind of shop as Aldi) for £1.

I could not use one bag of Spinach for two salads for my family.
I applaud the way you all can stretch a dollar / My family is always so hungry I make them a very large entire meal and they often go back for seconds and then about two hours later they are looking for another large meal.
I think it is because of many of the drugs they are on but they are eating me out of house and home!!!

My friend and I were just talking about this very thing. I have six kids and she has five. We feel like they never stop eating. Not snacking but eating. We make things from scratch, garden, can, and pride ourselves in finding deals. Even with all this we are
overwhelmed by volume of food consumed and price of said food. Not to mention the work behind preparing said food.
LeAnne says
Agreed! I have 6 kids and if I don’t prepare big meals they will snack away my grocery budget. A 9×13 casserole pan just isn’t enough. An 11×15 is my new normal. 3 pounds of meat if i make a mwat & potatoes type dinner or sloppy joes. Cereal for breakfast would take a gallon of milk and 2 boxes of cereal so we avoid that start to our mornings. And there is no grocery store here that clearances produce.

I have many children and have learned over the years that I was giving my children too much food. We eat a lot of vegetables, fruits, lean meats, etc., healthy and well balanced meals, but the portions I was giving them was too much!
I’ve also noticed many friends and strangers are giving their toddlers and young children as much, or more food, than I would eat as an adult! Their stomachs are being stretched because they are eating such large portions, so then they have to continue to eat these large portions to be satiated.
Another thing I’ve noticed is that children will say their hungry when really they are thirsty. Have them drink a glass of water first and then let the food “settle” for 10-15 minutes before you offer seconds, many times they will feel full by then because they needed hydration not food.
Hope these tips help! Mrs.Clark
