I’ve set aside the month of March to really focus on organization in my home and life. And I’d love for you to join me!
Every weekday morning at around 10 a.m. CST, I’ll be posting the day’s assignment and then every evening at around 8 p.m. CST, I’ll be posting my progress and pictures, along with a link-up for you to share your progress and pictures, too.
Day 5 Assignment
::Get dressed in something that makes you feel great {there’s something about dressing in clothes that make you feel great that just gives you more energy and zest for life!}
::Sit down with a cup of coffee or tea, refer to your list of weekly goals, and make a list of no more than 5-7 specific things you want to accomplish today.
::Complete your morning routine {if you don’t have a morning routine, take some time to create one today! Read my How to Develop a Routine That Works–And Stick With It series for step-by-step help.}
::Remove your couch cushions and clean out any crumbs, toys, or other miscellaneous items you find. Use an attachment on your vacuum to vacuum the cushions, underneath the cushions, and all crevices of your furniture. Spot clean the fabric, if needed.
::Set the timer for at least 15 minutes and do something you really enjoy and that relaxes and rejuvenates you. If you need ideas, here are a few: read, write, call a friend, pray, exercise, bake, play with your children, laugh with your husband, stop by the bookstore and browse the book selection, work in the garden, or take a nap! Take some time to just stop and enjoy life today!
Note: If you work outside the home or have a really busy week with little time for extra projects, just do the bolded project above.

You’ve been so successful with this blog, how about branching out to apps? I’d love these articles in an app format that sent me a weekly “special project” house cleaning idea to help me stay on top of those odd jobs like cleaning the ceiling fans, couch cushions, refrigerator vents, etc.

We’re exploring that option right now and are hoping to roll out something in the future… still investigating it right now! Thanks so much for your input!

So my little one was sick most of the week but was able to get most of my challenge done during nap time. Today she was feeling so much better so she “helped” me get back on track. I am proud to say I have accomplished so much this week in spite of setbacks. I really needed this challenge. I have been in a winter funk for weeks and this was just the thing to get me up! I feel energized to do more. Actually a funny thing happened today (well maybe funny depending on how you look at it) My oldest son (18) opened one of my kitchen cabinets and said “Is this cabinet on your list to organize too?”

Today we caught up by cleaning the freezer, which thankfully was not as gross as the fridge had been earlier this week. We also cleaned the bathrooms and vacuumed the couch cushions. Plus general tidying and cooking to get ready for hosting friends tonight. It has been helpful this week to have these discrete goals to tackle! Thank you!

Thanks to my teenage daughter this one was easy today. She totally cleaned the couch 2 weekends ago. Of course she was looking for her missing ipod but she took the couch apart and the vacuumed it for me. Alas the ipod remains missing.

This challenge is very enjoyable for me so far. I have a cleaning routine, so I am not doing all of the assignments in the order presented, but I am making headway in other areas because of the challenge. Thank you!

Loving the challenge. Our couch is quite new (a little more than a month). I think it is going to be eye-opening to all of us how dirty it can get in that amount of time. (I thought I wasn’t going to have time for this challenge since I had errands to run, but my van needed a part; no vehicle=more cleaning time.)

So thankful that it’s been helpful for you! {And thanks for catching that typo a bit ago — oops!}

I am really enjoying this series! Writing a list each day is really helping me be productive because I want to mark everything off my list.
