During the month of April, I’m encouraging my readers to participate in a 30-Day House Cleaning Challenge (read more here, if you missed my announcement about this challenge last week). Every week day morning at 9 a.m., I’ll post the daily project and every evening around 6 p.m. EST, I’ll post an update and link-up.
I spent over an hour on my room today (yes, it looked worse than this because I hadn’t gotten unpacked from my trip earlier this week!) and I was excited to show you the pictures.
But alas, Silas somehow got the photo card with the pictures on it stuck down in the crevices of our leather chair in our room and for the life of me, I cannot get it out. I just had to laugh — because that’s just life sometimes, ya know?!
So you’re just going to have to imagine what it looked like before and after! And I’ll do a better job of keeping watch over the photo card in the future. 😉

You seem to lose these often. Why not just use the camera cord to hook it up to the laptop instead of taking them out all the time?
Crystal says
I actually don’t have a camera cord for my camera… otherwise, that would be a great option.
I can’t remember the last time I’ve lost my camera card but maybe I’m forgetting that I lost another one recently? My blog readers often have better memories about what I’ve blogged than I do! ;).
I’m actually surprised that it’s only happened a few times in my life (as far as I can remember) because I’m typically transferring the card from the camera to the computer multiple times per day. And for something so little, it’s a wonder it hasn’t disappeared more often! 🙂
me says
Most cameras have the option of transferring via usb and it is only a mini USB to usb. You probably have one already from a phone or old camera or you can usually pick one up for a few dollars. Mine works fine with the mac and goes straight into iphoto or picasa.

I finally did this challenge! Better late then never right?!

Stacy @ A Delightful Home says
Oh, that’s funny! Hope you get the card out 🙂
Victoria says
A wooden paint stir stick (found free at paint stores) , or a butter knife (or other dull knife that won’t nick the leather) should be able to pop the card out of the crevice for you. If that fails you can try flipping the chair over with your husbands help and seeing if you can locate the screws that hold the arms tight to the sides and loosen them somewhat until the camera card falls out. HOW DO I KNOW THIS. I am a mom of 3 who has totally been there more than once!

😉 Thanks for the tips!

I accidentally dropped a bottle of salad dressing on my 2-year-old’s big toe while I was cleaning out the refrigerator. Kids certainly make life more interesting!

I ‘m glad I not the only one who has lost their photo card before. I worked on the bathroom today and did a quick clean I the bedrooms too.
Erica @ Sort of Crunchy says
I didn’t see a linky so here is my post about today’s task

I can’t believe that the month is almost over!
Lori W. says
Crystal, try using a sock or knee high over the hose on the vacuum. You can suck things out of nooks and crannies without losing the item inside the vacuum.
🙂

Great idea!

I had a productive day in another way. My two year old and I had a great time running errands. She is amazing me with her memory!! We went to Sam’s club and she was insistent on saying something but it wasn’t understandable. I stopped the cart and looked at where she was pointing and then figured out she was saying “glasses” and pointing to her eyes. A few months ago we were there for my husband to get glasses!!! She’s figured out different exists off roads and knows where we’re going (or where she thinks we are going) But the whole morning was fun with her. We also went to Aldi’s and they had organic banana’s for .25cents for 2 lbs!!!! I picked up a bunch. Then when we came home she “helped” unload all the bags.
And after all the crazy snow we’ve had here it was finially 65 degrees today so we got to play outside. My husband went on a trip to OH and took my 6yr. daughter for the weekend. So I took the time with my 6year old son and 2 year old and we went for a walk, played a park and had baths. I extended his bedtime to play a game and read stories and now he’s sleeping in our big bed with mama tonight.
It felt great to be fully present with my kids and not hung up on the to-do’s. So now i’m off to tidy the kitchen and snuggle with my little one. I have a babysitter coming tomorrow and my son and I get to have a special mommy/son date.

I chose a different project (out of necessity, I’m missing an important bill, and a much more important check- and I have bags and BOXES of paperwork needing to be filed). As our camera is packed in out hospital bag for the moment I go into labor, I did not take a before picture, but with 15+ reusable shopping bags of papers, coupons, recipes and random stuff to go through (and 6 large boxes and 5 crates of similar items) I realized I have lost control of my record-keeping system I had in place, and needed to start over. Fast forward 6.5 hours now, and I’m still labeling, filing, shredding, organizing and evaluating everything, but I now have everything in it’s place (and I found the bill and the check- Whew!!) And the clutter in the drawers, corners, on the counters, the tables and everywhere else I had things stashed is now GONE! This will definitely make things easier when I come home from the hospital this week!!!
Jessica @Proverbslady.com says
Good For You!!! Filing is a challenge for me as well just when I think I have everything under control it starts to pile up. Must be because it comes in just about everyday!
Charlene @ A Virtuous Woman says
My big project that I’m working up to is to completely clean our “spare bedroom”,which is also our office, and has tons of stuff to be sorted and filed–good for you that you’ve attacked it and made such a dent!

Oh, those kids! They just love to shove things in little spaces. Every time I clean my sofa cushion covers I find all sorts of toys hidden in there. We have also learned to look on my husbands bookcase in all the nooks and crannies for “missing” cars. 🙂
I am so proud of myself today. I cleaned all three bathrooms, dusted the master bedroom and deep cleaned the kitchen. My sons birthday party is a week from tomorrow and at this rate all I will have to do is a light surface clean of the downstairs and the house will be ready!
