During the month of April, I’m encouraging my readers to participate in a 30-Day House Cleaning Challenge (read more here, if you missed my announcement about this challenge last week). Every week day morning at 9 a.m., I’ll post the daily project and every evening around 6 p.m. EST, I’ll post an update and link-up.
April 25, 2013 Project
Today’s project is to surface clean or deep clean your kitchen and/or living room.
I’m going to clean out some of the drawers and cupboards in my kitchen and wipe down the outside of the cupboards. In addition, I’m going to clean the baseboards — those are always pretty icky in the kitchen!
What are you planning to tackle in the kitchen and/or living room today?
Come back here at 6 p.m. EST and I’ll have a linky so you can link up your pictures of your accomplishments today!

I am going to put all the groceries away. I went to CVS, Walgreens, Hy-Vee and Dillons this morning. Unload dishwasher. Put anything else away that does not belong in kitchen and dining room. Clean countertops and dining room table. Pick up in living room.

Today I am going to focus on deep cleaning the kitchen. I really want to focus on the oven and thankfully it is self-cleaning so it will be a somewhat easy job scrubbing it down.

I’m going to give my sink a good shine! Also, wipe down the cabinets, knobs and fronts of appliances. And if I can find something long and thin, I will run a damp cloth under the stove….yuck.

I’m going to wipe out my kitchen drawers by the stove. For some reason my utensil holder seems to catch a lot of crumbs. Yuk!

I’m going to pick my living room. Under the furniture is getting pretty dusty, everything else needs a good dusting, the windows need to be washed and the floor needs to be scrubbed! Spring has started here(finally!) and now it seems like the kids are coating everything in mud.

I am going to wipe down the fronts of my cabinets & appliances.

I am done with wiping down the cabinets & appliance faces 🙂
Earlier in the week I cleaned out 2 kitchen drawers. I am in the process of ditching paper towels…..well, at least drastically reduce their use. I made room for the hand towels (to clean messy spills), dish cloths (to use for wiping down counter tops & stoves, etc), kitchen towels (for hand drying). I am in the process of making our fabric napkins! The napkins will be the biggest adjustment for our family. We are so used to pulling the PT like there’s no end. We are incorporating one more way to save money. No more $17 of PT from sam’s club every two or three months!
So, if time permits this afternoon, I am going to sew some of our fabric napkins.
