I often feel guilty when I say no as Jesus tells us that He did not come to serve but to be served and to deny yourself and follow Him. How do you reconcile that with saying no to a legitimate need?

I really love this quote. I would love to have more courage to say “no.”

Yes, and also know when to push yourself appropriately. For example, don’t shy away from having people over to your house because you think it’ll be less stressful not to have to clean up. There may be a season for that (early pregnancy!), but sometimes it’s good to go ahead and do a hard thing (get things looking decent) to achieve an even greater good (fellowship and connection with friends). I KNOW you’re not recommending laziness! You’re the last person on earth who would ever say that 🙂 I just was thinking that sometimes I fool myself into thinking something’s an overcommitment when in reality it’s just laziness or failure to plan. (Sounds like maybe the opposite of your personality 😉 ) Who was it that said “know thyself”? 😉 I am loving these short, motivational snippets!
