A lot of you have been earning a nice little cashflow with Jingit every day. But some of you have been hesitant to sign up with Jingit since your earnings are loaded onto a prepaid card and part of the sign-up process is to give them your Social Security Number.
While Jingit is totally legit, I completely understand your hesitancy to give out your SSN online. However, there’s good news! Freebies 4 Mom discovered that Jingit is okay with you just typing in zeros instead of your actual SSN.
From Jingit’s FAQs:
QUESTION: Do I have to enter my Social Security Number in order to get the Jingit Debit Card?
ANSWER: No, you should be able to enter all ZERO’s like this: 000-00-0000 and you’ll qualify for a Basic Jingit Account instead of a Jingit Plus Account.
Thanks, Freebies 4 Mom!

I have tired twice with SNN and once with just zero’s and all I keep getting is an error message. I tried on Sunday and then again tonight at 8pm. Anyone know why this might be?

Oh good, thank you!! I hate giving out my ssn!
Kristen says
It worked! I put in all zeros for my social security number and had no problems.
Mary says
I was worried it wouldn’t work for me because facebook has my name as maiden then last when that’s not my legal name but it worked with the all zero SS number, I just had to try three times like some of the other comments were saying.
Sarah says
Oh good! You give me hope! I have a shortened version of my last name, and I was going to give up. I guess I’ll get to $3 and order it. Hope it works!
Tammy says
Oh goodness…I just signed up for the card with my real SS#, about an hour ago! Oh well…
Sheri says
Do you know if you can get around needing to get texts? I don’t get texts on my phone?
Tammy says
Sheri, I don’t know of a way around the text issue. They only send one text, and it includes your verification number to activate your account.
story3girl says
Can you sign up for a google voice number and use that for texts? I haven’t tried but it seems possible.
Stefj says
dont feel bad, i used my real one too. I was even thinking about all zeros originally but was afraid i couldnt be accepted with them. Anyway a rule of thumb i have learned is even on job applications online you can always try all zeros first.

So does anyone know the difference between a Jingit basic account and a Jingit Plus account?
story3girl says
I think the plus account allows you to add money to the card in addition to your jingit funds. Which is probably not something you need.
Victoria@Snailpacetransformations says
Thanks that helps a lot. Now if it would just stop giving me error messages. Not sure what is up.
Katie says
THANK YOU for posting this!! I really didn’t want to give my ssn out!! 🙂

You are absolutely correct in not wanting to give out your SSN. *No* company is totally safe from a data breach and a valid SSN is like gold to the identity theft community.
Cristyn says
Yes, I did this last night. It did work, but you should know that you will likely get rejected two times and then accepted the third time. Worked for me!
Jo says
I did it just now! I wasn’t accepted until the 3rd try either. Thanks for the info.
