Are you looking for deals on diapers and wipes but don’t want to spend $99 a year on Amazon Mom? A lot of people appreciate their membership and find that it pays for itself, but many others cannot afford or justify the cost.
However, you can still find some fantastic baby deals on Amazon without paying a fee. Here are 6 tips that will help you save:
1. Take Advantage of the Free 30-Day Trial
Amazon will allow you to use Amazon Mom free for 30 days. Make sure and take advantage of this free trial when you can get the most use out of it.
Amazon Mom members now get a registry completion coupon for 15% off (rather than 10%) about 30 days before their due date, so time your free trial at the end of your pregnancy if possible. You can also stock up on diapers and wipes during your free trial because you’ll save 20% on those baby necessities.
Note: Grandparents, dads, and caretakers are also eligible for the free trial.
2. Check for Baby Coupons Frequently
Whether you’re enjoying your free trial or simply buying diapers and wipes without Amazon Mom, make sure you always check for coupons. You can find the diaper and wipes coupons on this page and general baby coupons on this page. Check frequently because some coupons only last for a few days which means you could miss out!
Note: The coupon only applies to the first order when you use Subscribe & Save. It is completely fine to cancel your subscription after your order ships. Then you can take advantage of a coupon every time you order as long as there is one available.
3. Always Choose Subscribe & Save
Even if you don’t have Amazon Mom, you can still get a good deal by using Subscribe & Save. If you choose “Subscribe” when you place your order, you’ll save 5% plus any coupon discounts and get free shipping as well!
While the discount isn’t quite as good as the 20% that Amazon Mom members save, you have to take into account that $99 fee. Depending on your needs, you might save more by not being a member!
You can also get 15% off a variety of household items if you subscribe to 5 or more items per month. There is no minimum requirement for free shipping when you choose Subscribe & Save.
4. Use Swagbucks to Save
Don’t want to pay for Amazon Mom but you still want to get diapers and wipes at a discounted price? Use Swagbucks!
Earn 450 Swagbucks by taking surveys, using their search engine, finding swag codes, and more to earn free $5 Amazon gift cards. Just add your gift card code(s) when you’re reviewing your subscription to lower you final price.
5. Check the Amazon Warehouse for Hot Deals
You should also check the Amazon Warehouse periodically for hot deals on diapers, wipes, and all kinds of items. You will sometimes be able to score amazing deals on boxes that have been opened or returned and can no longer be sold as a new.
Not all the deals are great, especially when they’re from a 3rd party seller, so make sure and compare prices with new boxes. However, if you do see a hot deal, act fast because they’ll be sold out before you know it.

Personally, the H-E-B brand diapers have been the best price and quality for the price. They are half as expensive as pampers, slightly cheaper than parents choice. We bought Pampers for the newborn and some of size one because there appeared to be a slight reaction when trying the H-E-B brand that early, but after they became a month or two old the H-E-B has been no problem

I needed to get my daughter non-chlorine diapers (i.e. Seventh Generation), but not until she was over a year old. (EVERY other brand of diaper gave her a rash.) Using Amazon Mom and Subscribe and Save was the only we could afford it. We usually have at least 5 S&S items each month, but it’s nice to get the 20% discount on diapers (now training pants) when we don’t. Plus, I’ve been getting better with getting my Swagbucks. Last month we only needed training pants and wipes and we had a few dollars left over in gift cards, which of course went towards Christmas presents.

Amazon mom is a life saver for us. If we order 5 things a month (even non-baby items) subscribe and save we get 20% off. With no car and only the subway, lugging things home is pretty awful. Love getting toilet paper, coffee and diapers right to my door. We also had the student rate for prime for a while which was great while my husband was in law school.

Ashlee, thanks for sharing that. I can see how Amazon Mom would be worth it to you! I know many people really appreciate their membership. It all depends on your situation. Many people truly cannot afford the fee so I thought I’d offer some ways for them to save too.
Jane says
Good advice but please also consider cloth diapers! Very frugal if you do it right and MUCH kinder to the earth God gave us! 🙂
Alisha @ The Savvy Bump says
Cloth diapers are a great choice too! However, I’m not the person to write a post about it. =) If anyone is interested, check out Confessions of a Cloth Diaper Convert.

I’m not sure I understand the point of Amazon Mom for diapers and wipes. Parent’s Choice from Walmart are much cheaper than Pampers or Huggies even with the discounts…Size 4 at $0.17 each. And they have always worked better and caused less skin irritations.
Mrs. W says
We used the Parents Choice brand when my children were little and were really impressed with the quality (not to mention they were WAY cheaper than couponing with other diapers). I personally liked the Parents Choice brand better than some of the other more expensive brands like Huggies.
Alisha @ The Savvy Bump says
I’ve never tried Parent’s Choice so it’s great to hear they are good quality! Thanks!
Anna says
I agree about Parent’s Choice diapers. Last pregnancy I ran a calculation on a cloth diaper website, and it was cheaper to buy the Parent’s Choice disposables than their base-line cloth diaper starter package. I was paying about 15 cents a diaper for PC at that time. Occasionally I’d find a better deal at a drugstore, like Walgreens had a deal where I got their brand diapers for 9 cents each. PC diapers worked great for us, especially after we got past the newborn stage. But even the newborn diapers were just fine, and the savings was substantial!

Hey,
Just want to note Amazon Mom is a free program. What you end up paying for is the continuation ofthe Amazon Prime trial that you get enrolled in if you sign up for Mom.
Alisha @ The Savvy Bump says
Hi Marisa! Amazon Mom has changed a lot. If you do not pay for Amazon Prime at the end of the 3 month trial – you do not get the Amazon Mom discount. You cannot get 20% off diapers and wipes unless you pay for Amazon Prime now.
If you decide not to pay for Amazon Prime, you only get 5% off just like anyone else who does not have Amazon Mom. So it really is not a free program anymore. It used to be.

Good info about Amazon Mom =).
I personally still find it much cheaper to buy Pampers from Sam’s Club when they have their coupon special. For example, right now it is 29 cents a diaper for size 4 Cruisers, but next month when they have a $10 off coupon, it will bring them down to 22 cents per diaper, also w/free shipping. There will be tax but they will still be cheaper than Amazon unless they also run a nice special.
We bulk buy from Sam’s, Costco, a co-op, & a few online sources for almost all of our needs (grocery, toiletries, etc.) so we more than make up our membership fees.. actually we probably more than make up our membership fees just in the gas savings alone buying from buying our gas at Sam’s & Costco all year.
We’d easily give up our Costco membership but they have a lot of organics not available at Sam’s… Sam’s also has some great prices on things we use a lot of (vinegar, etc.) that Costco may have but they are a lot more money for…Sam’s also has things Costco doesn’t & vice versa. We don’t use a lot of disposable diapers (we use mostly cloth) but Sam’s has the best price around… we paid MUCH more at WalMart for Pampers years ago when we didn’t have a Sam’s membership. Costco only sells Kirkland & Huggies diapers which are worthless on our kids… we tried them both (as well as many other store brands) & they leaked all over every time after only an hour. So when we need disposables I splurge on Pamper’s Cruisers (Swaddlers when tiny babies) because I don’t want to wash any more laundry than I already must. We save a lot at Sam’s on diapers especially rather than buying a box that is nearly the same price but has far less diapers in it at Walmart.
Alisha @ The Savvy Bump says
That is a good deal on Pampers Cruisers. Thanks for sharing your experience with Sam’s Club! I’ve only ever had a membership at Costco so that was helpful info.
Mama Lee says
Happy to share =)!! They haven’t been doing their own coupon for a really long time… I think they started over the past summer (or maybe late last spring??). DEF makes them more in competition w/Costco coupon prices =).

Tell me more about this Sam’s club coupon on Pampers!

For the last several years we have asked our parents for a membership to Amazon Prime/Mom. It’s a fantastic gift that is incredibly useful without cluttering up the house with more stuff. And with the Prime videos, you can cancel the Netflix subscription too!
Alisha @ The Savvy Bump says
That is definitely a great gift – it saves you money and provides entertainment. Win! =)
Mama Lee says
I thought about canceling NF but I found that any shows on Amazon we’d like to watch would cost us EXTRA (like Duggars), so it wasn’t worth it for us. I wonder if that has changed?!
liz says
Also, remember to check the prices when they send that final email even when you have Amazon Mom. Sometimes they jack them up at the last minute, and it doesn’t end up all that cheap. Sometimes a little cheaper, but not that much….
Alisha @ The Savvy Bump says
Yes, good point! Amazon Mom has changed a lot since it started. Your subscription price used to be locked in but that has ended.
