It’s Day 11 of the 21 Days to a Simple Christmas Challenge!
I gathered together some of our Christmas and winter-themed books today to read to the children. Here’s what I came up with:
- The Story of Christmas
- The Lost Milk Jar
- Three Happy Days
- Curious George in the Snow
- Happy Seasons
- The Christmas Story
- Uncle Rick’s Holiday Book
- Katy and the Big Snow
We also requested all of these books that were available from our library.
And here are the two Christmas-related books I’m reading this December: A Winter Dream by Richard Paul Evans and The Greatest Gift by Ann Voskamp.
What Christmas/Winter-themed books are you planning to read/reading this December? If so, I’d love to have you share your list or a link to your blog post (if you posted about it).

We have been turned part of our Christmas/Winter book collection into an Advent activity with the “Countdown to Christmas: 25 Nights of Christmas Stories”. My 5 year old is more excited about unwrapping a story to read every night than anything else (so far) this Christmas! The Christmas Donkey is a favorite so far!

We have a collection of Christmas related books from over the years.
We don’t often get lots of snow here so, The Mitten and Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening and Owl Moon (which I forgot to add to my list) are some of my kids favorites because of the pictures of the snow. Here’s our list,

A few years ago…. I *think* I got the idea from your blog…. I began wrapping up our Christmas themed books and my boys get to take turns unwrapping one each night for me to read. We do it for the “twelve days of Christmas” leading up to the big day. My boys are now in 3rd and 4th grade and it is a tradition that they both still LOVE! It makes my Mama heart so happy that they still enjoy snuggling in for a story!!
