We only crossed off one goal in April, but it was one that has been a long time in coming: we got our very first non-hand-me-down bedroom set. We’ve been talking about splurging on this for a few years and have been saving/looking for months, so it was a pretty exciting day!
{You can see a picture of it on Instagram, if you’re interested.}
If you’re brand-new to goal-setting, be sure to read my post on How to Change Your Life By Setting Goals.
Here’s my list of 25 Goals for 2013 and an update on how I did in April:
Personal Goals
Read through the Bible in a year using this plan. {I’m on track with this so far.}
Run in at least one 5K race. {We signed up for one in June — yay!}
Complete the Couch to 10K program.
Memorize Romans 1 and 2 with Jesse. {This has been slow going, but I have the first 12 verses from Romans 1 memorized.}
Wake up by 6 a.m. and exercise, shower, and dress by 8 a.m. every day. {Still working on this… I did a better job at it in April.}
Read 150 books/ebooks {See my list of 48 books I’m for sure planning to read here — I’ve read 53 books/ebooks so far in 2013, so I’m on a good track to hit my goal!}Marriage Goals
Read 3 marriage books.
Finish reading through the Psalms together as a couple.
Have overnight stay (sans children) at least every other month. {Done in April.}
Go on at least one date per month. {Done in April.}Mothering Goals
Continue memorizing together from the Grace and Truth memory book.
Ice-skating lessons for all three children during the first quarter of 2013.
Swimming lessons for all three children during the summer.
Finish at least 37 read-aloud books. {We’ve finished 19 books so far this year, so we’re on a good track here.}Ministry/Friendships/Extended Family Goals
Weekly accountability meetings with a friend.
Get together with friends for a playdate or lunch at least once a month. {Done once in April.}
Continue being involved in our local church, couple’s group, and blogging accountability group.
Continue with weekly get-togethers with both sides of our extended family.Financial Goals
Use a portion of the proceeds from my next book project to fund a well project.
Fund our Child Survival Program for 2013.{Done — yay!}
Buy a new bedroom set.
Invest in another rental property.Business/Blogging Goals
Release two new ebooks.
Attend one speaking conference.{I attended the She Speaks Intensive in January.}

Your bedroom set looks so nice. Our bedroom could use an update too. I am thinking of painting it soon and getting a new quilt for the bed. I haven’t changed it for about 15 years. We could look for a new bedroom set as it is in our budget but I hate furniture shopping. It took us 5 years to find a new couch. 🙂

Your bedroom set is gorgeous! Some day me and my husband will get one too – I’m sure of it! We’ve been married almost 13 years and have 3 non-matching pieces of bedroom furniture that were hand me downs from family. Not real attractive but I just close the door 🙂 So I can imagine the fun you and your husband must have had getting that beautiful set. Congratulations! That is so exciting!

I noticed the 5K says “we enrolled” is your husband running with you or one of the children? I am doing a 10K next week with my son.

My husband and I are doing it together!

But it’s not looking too hot so far. I am grateful for getting a few things done, though!

Crystal, your new bedroom set is just lovely! May I ask what brand it is? I’ve been looking for a similar headboard.

Very nice furniture!
DH and I bought an unfinished headboard, footboard and huge dresser about a year after we bought our house. We stained and finished it ourselves, saving hundreds of dollars. We did a lot of our furniture this way: kitchen island, dining table and chairs, corner shelf, wall shelves (2), jelly cabinet, coffee table and two end tables in addition to our bed and dresser. Glad we did all that before children came, because now we don’t have the time! 🙂
