Just the other day I was asking my nieces what they’d like for me to make them for Christmas and the 17 year old mentioned this bracelet. You see, five or six years ago I had a birthday sleepover for my daughter with all her girl cousins and one of the many things we did that night was craft time when they made these bracelets. She said it was her favorite bracelet until it broke and now she wants another one.
Then they had a whole conversation about the favorite things I’ve made for them over the years.Stuff that I had forgotten that I had made or things I made as an afterthought to go with the present I bought them.
NO WAY. My very first entrepreneurial venture was making these beaded safety pin bracelets as a third grader! My mom (bless her heart) actually succombed to my begging and drove me around to local boutiques so I could sell them! They turned out to be very popular among sorority girls, who’d custom order them in their sorority colors.
Thanks for the wave of nostalgia this morning!
Love this! Reminds me of when I was little (really little) and it was cool for some reason to put beaded safety pins on shoelaces – it was an 80′s thing.
