Your haystacks look so yummy! I may have to put that on our meal plan for next week. I am so excited about our Food Allergy Menu for this week. It has a nice collection of fall dishes & easy to throw together dinners. Tonight, I cooked a Savory Pork Tenderloin, but the meat was a large piece. I cut it in half and seasoned the other half with a bbq rub to turn into pulled bbq pork later in the week. I love being able to kill 2 “pigs” with 1 stone :)

Oh also, I’m spotlighting a new recipe that we enjoyed recently, Taco Chicken Legs w/ Guac Dip. It was amazingly good and easy!

I will have to try your granola bars for my kids’ snacks at school. :)

I am temporarily on an anti-yeast diet, so here is the plan for me and the family:

Our family of 4 cooks dinner for an average of $5 each meal, by “shopping” from my freezer and pantry instead of paying shelf prices. There’s almost always a Little Caesar’s pizza on the menu too :-) I keep it flexible so we can easily switch meals up as life happens, but I know that I have everything needed for those dinners already on hand. http://www.thriftytexaspenny.com/2012/09/frugal-5-dinner-menu-week-39-of-2012.html

We have been doing easier meals, which has really helped out the grocery budget as well. In fact, I am just on my way into the kitchen to make a homemade Roasted Tomato-Basil Soup and Grilled Cheese for less than $0.50 per serving.

What is your recipe for the orange/carrot juice? Looks yummy!

    • Crystal September 24, 2012 at 07:35 pm

We just do about 3-4 oranges for every 1-2 big whole carrots. Great way to get lots of nutrition!

        Thank you!

I’m looking forward to seeing what your recipe is for the chicken pizza pockets. It’s only Monday and I’ve already pulled a switcheroo with my menu. We had been planning on having baked haddock one night but there was a great sale on perch so we ended up having a fish fry instead!

Here is our menu for the week. Thanks.

Yes, I usually add some water — and sometimes some spices/herbs, too.

One was already a “Don’t make this again!” :(

  • august September 24, 2012 at 10:02 pm

I made the dinner rolls that you mentioned here and I was so upset with how they turned out. I forgot the salt and let me tell you, it’s a HUGE difference. Next time!

We’re starting to take advantage of apple season in our house, I’m adding lots of applesauce, apple crisp and apple pancakes to our freezer. Here’s our menu plan for the week:

I never thought of doing kielbasa in the crock pot. That’s a good idea.

I’m enjoying the benefits of having a full freezer this week. I don’t mind the cooking, but nnot having to do as many dishes is a treat!

  • Laura September 25, 2012 at 01:42 pm

    Hello,
Thank you so much for all you do and letting the Lord shine thru you and being willing to be used by Him. Wondering how long you’ll let your kielbasa slow cooker dinner cook for. We have all those ingredients on-hand, so it would make a great addition for us next week. Will you add any sauces? I think minimally S &P and a little garlic powder would do the trick for us. :)

    • Crystal September 25, 2012 at 01:48 pm

Thanks so much for your kind encouragement! We usually let it simmer for 4-6 hours. It’s a yummy Fall meal!

  • Danielle @ Cozycakes Cottage September 25, 2012 at 05:37 pm

You’re such a continual source of inspiration and motivation for me. When I’m feeling too worn out to do much of anything, I peek in on your menu, goals, etc and I’m always motivated to get up and go. I needed a little kick in the pants this week because I’m not feeling great–:) Thank you!!

I’m keeping it simple with our menu this week since I’m behind on other household chores like filing and ironing. http://cozycakescottage.com/2012/09/25/our-menu-week-of-september-23-2012/
