Crock Pot Peach Crisp

by Crystal on August 31, 2012

Here’s a yummy, simple, in-season recipe that will satisfy your sweet tooth without heating up your house. It easily adjusts to be dairy-free/vegan: just use coconut oil in place of the butter.

It’s great either way. Enjoy!

    This looks delicious!
One question…why do you cover the crock pot with a paper towel? I use my crock pot all the time, and have never had a recipe call for that. It’s interesting! :)

    • Lisa August 31, 2012 at 10:01 am

I’ve used a paper towel a few times in order to soak up some of the moisture, so that the dessert doesn’t get “mushy”.

    • Brigette August 31, 2012 at 10:44 am

It helps absorb some of the moisture on the top so that the topping can get a little crispy on the edges, while still staying yummy and gooey underneath .:)

    Could canned peaches be used????

    • Brigette August 31, 2012 at 10:49 am

I would think so, although I haven’t actually tried it. As long as they are drained well, you should be fine. Let me know if you try it and it works. :)

Why do you need to cover the crockpot with the paper towel?

    • Brigette August 31, 2012 at 10:51 am

It helps absorb the moisture on top, allowing the topping to get a little crispy while the underneath part stays yummy and gooey. :)

Do you think it would make a huge difference if I used canned peaches instead?

    • Brigette August 31, 2012 at 10:52 am

I would guess it wouldn’t, although I haven’t actually tried it that way.

I just purchased a box of peaches from the farm stand. I think I will make this for our dessert for our barbecue this weekend. Thanks for sharing your recipe, it looks really good.

Perfect timing, I was needing a quick dessert recipe for company tonight! Except I’m going to try substituting apples, since our trees are abundant this year.

    • Elizabeth H. September 13, 2012 at 10:08 am

How did it turn out with apples? I was just wondering if that would work

  • Sarah August 31, 2012 at 10:34 am

I see vanilla in the instructions but not listed in the ingredients. How much do you use?

    • Jen August 31, 2012 at 12:22 pm

      I was wondering that too.

      • Brigette August 31, 2012 at 12:31 pm

Good catch! It should be 2 teaspoons vanilla.

  • Erica August 31, 2012 at 10:34 am

Ah, yes…I see the family resemblence in the bio :-)

    • Brigette August 31, 2012 at 10:56 am

;) well, considering Crystal is WAY more amazing than me, I’ll take that as a huge compliment!

  • Sarah August 31, 2012 at 12:11 pm

Looks delicious! Can you tell me approximately how many peaches are in 4 cups?

    • Brigette August 31, 2012 at 12:35 pm

Somewhere around 6 medium peaches. It definitely depends of the size of your peaches, though.

      • Brigette August 31, 2012 at 12:43 pm

Or 7… Since it is 4 “heaping” cups. :)

My favorite dessert ot make in the crockpot is Apple Pie dessert—it’s a huge it with my husband and 4 teenagers!

This is so easy to make, and it takes only three ingredients.

This looks delicious. I love crockpot recipes. I’ll definitely give this a try. Yum!

If I were to use a 6 quart crock pot, I could probably double this, right?

It looks yummy and like the perfect recipe to take to our church lunches! :) Thanks for sharing!

    • Brigette September 01, 2012 at 05:52 am

I would double it if I was using a 6 quart. Should work fine!

  • Carla August 31, 2012 at 06:43 pm

Thank you! I am going to try this soon. I LOVE using my crockpot.

    • robyn August 31, 2012 at 09:11 pm

Is the Maple Syrup a necessity or is there a substitution? I don’t care for it and don’t keep it in the house!

      • Brigette September 01, 2012 at 05:50 am

You could try using honey or sugar, or just leave it out completely.

  • Ca September 03, 2012 at 10:52 am

have you ever made this in the oven, I want to make some on
Thursday night but in the oven,
same amount for the ingredients listed?
for say a 9×12 casserole dish?
    thanks
