The very popular $50 bonus from ING is back! Here’s how to get yours:
::Go to ING and apply to open an Electric Orange Checking Account.
::Follow the directions to set up your account. (There are no fees and no minimums!)
::Use your Electric Orange debit card to make three signature (non-pin) purchases in the first 45 days.
::On day 50, $50 will be deposited in your account.

I already have an account with them. Is this only for people who don’t currently have an account with them or can I get this deal by opening an additional account?
Make sure to save the link you use to sign up for this AND write down the 45th business day on your calendar for your free $50 bonus. We did the last promotion for the free $50 with ING and they didn’t cash out until I contacted customer service and told them we didn’t get our bonus. Reluctantly, they finally gave it to us, but put a 30-day hold on it because they said I didn’t enter a promo code when I signed up, even though there was no promo code to enter. I had saved the link and told them exactly where I had clicked through on their own site to sign up for the checking account with bonus and that there was no code or place to enter one and they removed the hold, finally allowing us access to our bonus. Treat it like rebate and keep track of everything if you choose to do this bonus! It will pay off if you do your part, too!
I like ING so far, by the way, but only as a back-up account. Transfers take ten days to go all the way through and be usable unless they are within your ING accounts (i.e. between your own ING checking and savings accounts–those only take 1-2 days). The savings accounts are also great to use to store your money, and have a fairly high (1%) interest rate.
*50th business day, I meant. Sorry. I waited about 60 days before I contacted them over the issue, just to be safe since there were a number of bank holidays in the midst of my time, too.
My husband and I just signed up for a new checking account with Chase Bank, and they gave us $125 as long as we keep the account for at least 6 months. I’m not a financial expert, and I don’t know much about how different banks compare, but that worked for us. We have a Chase Bank right up the street from our house.
We have been with ING for quite a while, using their checking for over 4 years. We love them and use them as our primary account. (We have a credit union account if we need to write a check somewhere).
I wonder if there are different settings or something in the accounts. Our transfers take only a couple days to arrive and be usable from other outside accounts and transfers to/from savings are instantly usable.
If I were to pick any downside, it would be that once you use your overdraft line of credit (ours is only $25), they deny all other payments etc. They aren’t like some banks that take the money out of your savings to pay for it. I guess that is good, but we had our mortgage payment get bounced one month due to that.
Otherwise, we LOVE ING!
I signed up last time and forgot to use the card 3 times by the 45th day so I missed out on the bonus =( bummer….
We went to sign up this morning and it said this offer had expired.
