Worth Reading: Menu-planning and KidVantage

::I enjoyed Trent's post on how menu-planning could save you a significant amount of money at the store each week. For those of you overwhelmed at the thought of clipping coupons but who want to shave off some excess from your grocery budget, here's a simple way to start.

::Have young children who are rough on their clothes? Ruth wrote about the Sear's KidVantage program and how to utilize it to save money on clothing. My mom always purchased my brothers' jeans at Sears in order to take advantage of this. They could go through at least a few pairs of them each Summer so it was well worth it to buy them at Sears in order to get free replacements for all the times they ripped up the knees!

Does this work if I buy pants for child #1 but they don’t wear out till child #2? Is there a time limit in which the children have to wear the clothes out? What are the stipulations for “worn out”? I assume it doesn’t cover stains? Does anyone know?

I don’t know exactly what they consider worthy of replacement, but as far as the time limit, it’s supposed to be as long as your child fits into the item, so if it “wears out” before they grow out of that size. For babies and toddlers, the program might not do much good because they grow out of things so quickly, but for older boys it would probably be great.

Thanks for the link to the meal planning info – I’ve been scoping ads out lately and trying to save money but am working on pulling it all together.

Walmart also has the same policy. If the clothes wear out before the child outgrows them, then return it for a new item of the same style.

I am so glad I found this blog.

It offers so many good thoughts about a variety of interests.

You have to do the best you can for your kids these days!

I am interested in saving money and doing the right things for my family as the economy slows down. We are worried out here! I’ve really felt better after spending time with several books and http://www.StickyAsset.com. At least I know there are things I can control now.

    That really helps.

    Thank you for sharing.
