Today only (Friday, July 11, 2008), If you dress head-to-toe like a cow you’ll receive a free combo
meal at Chick-Fil-A. If you wear a cow accessory you’ll receive a free entree item.
More details here.
Now for the fun part! Because I love Chick-Fil-A and because I like
to keep things exciting, we’re celebrating "Dress Like a Cow Day" today. If you have a Chick-Fil-A nearby and you aren’t ashamed of
doing something a little goofy in order to get free food, here are the
details:
::Dress up in some way, shape, or form like a cow. There are lots of ideas here
to get your creative juices flowing. The only stipulation is that you
use materials you already have on hand to make your cow costume; do not
go out and buy something to make your costume otherwise it ruins the
whole concept of the food being free! Get your whole family in on the
act, if possible.
::Take pictures of your whole clan dressed up and ready to head out the door to Chick-Fil-A. (Or get extra points for taking the pictures at Chick-Fil-A!). Post pictures of your cow-adorned selves on your blog and leave your link below.
::Enjoy your free food, make an unforgettable memory with
your children and/or friends, and have a blast while other people look
at you like you’ve lost your mind. Oh the things we frugal folks will do when there is free food involved!
I can hardly wait
to see what crazy costumes you all come up with! I’ll post our pictures later on today… I’m off to go get us all be-decked!

Hi Crystal! We were the first ones dressed like cows at Chick-fil-A this morning! They loved us! We got 2 free combos, they took pictures, and we were entered in a drawing! Also, thanks for your post at todayshousewife.blogspot.com today!
We unfortunately don’t have Chick-Fil-A’s in the Chicagoland area.
We got our food this morning and my link is #3 above!
I also got another great costume making idea while I was there. Put a black t-shirt on and then take a white t-shirt (preferably an old one) and cut holes out so it looks like you have black spots! Also, you can hang socks from your ears to complete the look.
I can’t wait to see everyone else’s pictures!
Hey Crystal, I will link up later today on this one. We are joining our Homeschool Coop Group at 2:00–I will be there with a whole clan of us and take the pics! My older boys are like–no way mom! But my two younger ones were happy to do it, and so am I! Free food and a goofy day to remember….what more could one ask for?
I tricked dh into ewaring a white shirt, and then int eh parking lot, slapped some construction paper circles on him! I wore one on my visor too, The staff was so happy to see us, they gave us our entire meal free! We had so much food we brought some of it home!!
I’m having problems with your blog loading again. Only about half of the page will load! Thanks for all you do!
Free today–7.11 ounce slurpees at 7-11! I just took my kids on a walk and we all got one. They’re little, but they make a perfect FREE treat for us!
We were at our restaurant from 11:30-12:30 and just as we were leaving finally saw another family participate. I was surprised no one even tried! But, we had fun – hope your girls did too!
I just wanted to say how adorable some of the pics were. Sadly we do not have this restaurant up here that I know of. It looks like you had a lot of fun though. I am sorry Crystal that you and your family were not able to go. God Bless, Kathy

We were first at our regular ChickFilA (they call me by my 1st name I am there so much!) I with my cow mask and purse, 2 boys with spin art cow t shirts and masks and a toddler in a cow costume.
Then after errand which included free books and 1/2 price books and free slushies at 7-11, we went to a slightly out of the way CFA for lunch.
Awesome!!!
We had so much fun dressing up and eating free food!
We went with two other families from church and had the best time. The owner, who also goes to our church, gave us free ice cream, too!!!!!!
My husband and I are doing Chick-Fil-A for dinner. We are wearing white clothes and I cut out some black construction paper blobs. Hubby is making a “cow bell” out of an empty can! Oh those engineers! Hopefully will have pictures to share. I just love that we don’t have to cook tonight!!!
And there are FOUR 7-Eleven stores on my way to work…although I only stopped at one this morning. But I get thirsty on my way home too, so….
That was fun! I enjoyed seeing everyone else’s blog pictures. There were several “herds” at our Chick-fil-a, as well as the Chick-fil-a cow.
I saw a (hopefully) college student in a black trashbag with holes cut out and a vinyl glove blown up and taped to his belly. Not sure how he made out for the meal, but it sure was a cheap costume!
The kids and I had so much fun getting ready today! They loved the change of pace and I LOVED the FOUR free combos we ate! They didn’t even charge us tax! Hope you enjoy the pics … .
I am so inspired by all the photos. What a great way to share them, too!
I am off to find a frugal cow costume. Be back with photos!
Oh, my kids had so much fun with this today! They just wore Daddy’s undershirts, and colored pieces of paper brown with crayons, and we cut out cow spots that they taped to their clothes. I blew up some latex gloves that we had on hand, and made tails out of yarn leftover from making hats last winter. We added on noses printed out from the Cow Appreciation Day website, and off we went! 4 free kid’s combos, and a combo for mom too! We ate there, they got free samples of ice cream, played in the play area, and then we stopped at a park on the way home – they got to go on the swings, chase ducks, poke sticks at turtles, and roll down grassy hills. Lots of summer fun!!
Hi! Thanks for giving us the heads up about this event. The whole family dressed up and we had so much fun!
You can see the pictures at http://www.pregnantlyplump.com/2008/07/moo-tastic.html
Hopefully you and your family will get to enjoy the fun next year.
we had a blast tonight dressing up for cow day…we printed out the c-f-a cow tipping tips and my dtr cut out spots…she reminded me that she and her brother still had their woody and jessie costumes (cow fabric!!) and so we all–even dear old dad dressed up…had pics made at home and in the store, the store took pics with their costumed cow…got 4 free combo meals, went to the mall to get our free auntie anne’s pretzels, stopped by cfa there and got some free nuggets for the kids to have this weekend! along with the free ice cream and free slurpees today we saved over $41!!! and my hair stylist moved to a different salon so my salon offered me $40 in services to try a new stylist! what a great day of savings!thanks so much for all of your help!
We went to Chick-fil-A tonight after DH got home from work. He was good-natured about it and dressed up, too. He brought out some Tyvek suits he had in the garage and we used permanent markers to color spots on them, then taped on ears printed from the Chick-fil-A website. Oldest DD wore a white skirt, long-sleeved white t-shirt, and black shoes. She taped on black construction paper spots and wore a black with white polka dots headband with ears taped on. The three middles wore sheep outfits that we ue each Christmas in our living nativity, but we taped on black construction paper spots to turn them into instant cows. Black socks on their feet and black gloves on their hands made for good hooves. The babies wore cow costumes from last year’s nativity. Our outfits cost us nothing but time and we got $36.85 worth of food!
