Have a child interested in woodworking or crafts?
Ever since we posted about the Creative Girls Club Kit, SO many of you have asked if they might come out with a craft kit for boys. Well, great news — Annie’s now has a woodworking kit that boys OR girls can enjoy! Yay!!
If you have a child interested in woodworking or you’re looking for a craft kit that’s not specifically tailored to girls, this kit is for you!
The Young Woodworkers Kit Club is a woodworking craft kit series designed for children from 7-12 years of age.
These kits introduce a wide variety of woodworking skills including learning to use small screws and nails, becoming practiced in using sandpaper to round off edges, handling a hammer, learning the importance of making careful measurements, and so much more! Kids will make a variety of crafts and toys they can enjoy immediately, and have fun learning as they go!
Silas has tried a few of these kits and really loves them! His favorites so far have been the marshmallow launcher and candy dispenser. (Of course, he kept asking when we could buy candy to put inside the machine!)
These are SO much fun and totally worth $4.99 + shipping!

I received the woodworking kit and the girl’s creative club kits today. These are very overpriced for what they are and even at the 75 percent off, it doesn’t feel like a “deal.” The girl kit is too basic to even be fun for my 10 year old. It is very time consuming to cancel. The account I set up to order doesn’t allow me to access that account to cancel, have to set up an additional account for that and it never emailed me the instructions upon my request. Had to call, was on hold a long time. Googled this and they have received multiple BBB complaints for the cancellation process. Your post makes it sound super easy to cancel, sad that’s not the case for everyone.

I got your email about this on 2/27/21 and tried to order the box on 2/28/21. They said that promo code had expired. Was it only for the 27th?

Hi Sarah! Hi! I’m so sorry! It looks like they changed the discount over the weekend from 75% off to 50% off, and they’re also having some website issues right now. You can try code SHARE50 to get a discount, or wait until the 75% discount comes around again! I’m so sorry for the inconvenience! -Meg, MSM Team

OK, I have to ask. We have a Kiwi Crate subscription from grandparents, but what do you do with the craft/item after building it and the first few weeks of playing with it? Do you pitch it in the trash? Let the kid keep it until they want to get rid of it? My kids are natural born “savers”, so I’m hesitant to buy any crafts because they stay as clutter forever.
JJ says
We have “savers” in our home, too. One thing that has worked for us is to have the in/out rule. One new thing in, one current thing out. I make sure it is somewhat equivalent in size, etc. So for this thing, I’d have my son find something comparable in size. Or a few smaller things that are about that size. Then it’s his choice, and if there is buyer’s remorse it is a good lesson learned along the way.
