Fluffy Whole Wheat Biscuits

These fluffy, tender whole wheat biscuits rise tall and taste delicious -- all with the nourishing goodness of whole grains. This easy recipe proves you don’t have to sacrifice softness or flavor to bake a healthier biscuit!

Ingredients  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 8 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 Tablespoons sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
  • 2 cups milk

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 450 degrees.
  • In a medium-sized bowl, combine all of the dry ingredients and mix well.
  • Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Stir in the milk just until moistened and the dough sticks together.
  • Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead 8-10 times.
  • Roll to 3/4-inch thickness and cut with a 2 1/2-inch biscuit cutter.
  • Place the biscuits on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes, or until lightly browned.
