Double Chocolate Brownies

If you're looking for the perfect fudgy brownie, these are it! We've made them dozens of times over the years and they always turn out!

Ingredients  

  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • cup melted butter, divided
  • ½ cup boiling water
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 ⅓ cup flour
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup chopped pecans (optional)
  • 12 oz. chocolate chips or chopped chocolate

Instructions

  • Grease a 9″x13″ baking pan and set aside.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 °F
  • In a large bowl, combine cocoa and baking soda.
  • Whisk in 1/3 cup melted butter and boiling water.
  • Stir until well blended.
  • Stir in sugar, eggs, and remaining 1/3 cup melted butter.
  • Add flour, vanilla, and salt.
  • Stir in nuts (if using) and chocolate chips.
  • Pour mixture into a greased pan and bake in preheated oven for 35-40 minutes.

Notes

Note: If you prefer your brownies not quite as sweet, you can always scale back on the number of chocolate chips.
