Worth Reading: Queen of my Trailer and Freezer Cooking Co-op

::I stumbled across a fun blog last night titled, Queen of my Trailer. It doesn't appear the blog is updated very often, but there were some interesting and inspiring posts on making the most of a trailer living.

::Monica over at The Full Table is doing a series on hosting a successful freezer cooking co-op this week. I found myself motivated to see if I could do something like this in our area (anyone want to join me?). It sounds like such a great (and fun!) way to fill your freezer quickly and fairly inexpensively.

I’d love to do this. I made a whole bunch of freezer meals in August before my 3rd daughter was born. It’s been so nice to have those meals waiting for us. Thanks for all of your posts-

I made about 40 freezer meals before baby #2 came. I also froze about 20 lbs of hamburger cooked in 1 lb bags. He is 4 months this week and I still have a few meals left. It was such a life saver! I want to keep it up and always have about 10 meals made in the freezer. I would love to swap. I get tired of my cooking. Where do you live?

I went to the Hearts at Home conference in March and attended the Great American Supper Swap session. She told about how she swapped w/ 3 other ladies every week. They each had a day to make meals. I thought it was an awesome idea but I don’t have many neighbors in my rural area to group up with.

I’m cooking a “month of meals” with my sister in law tommorrow!

  • I enjoyed the Queen of My Trailer link. I had a friend who did this very thing. Two adults and one child lived in a single-wide trailer for 13 years to save money to build their dream home. That became a reality for them about 5 years ago and they are now living in a $400,000 mansion!

I’m in a cooking group like the one you linked. We’ve been together over two years and meet every 4-6 weeks on a Saturday to cook. We’re a varied group of moms, dads and singles… vegetarians and carnivores.

It’s a great way to spend a day because cooking is so much more fun as a community effort. And having a stocked freezer at the end of the day makes all that onion chopping worth it!

    I loved the trailer blog!

I do a freezer meal group too from time to time and LOVE it! It is especially great to have a freezer full of meals when you have terrible morning sickness(or any other illness)or a new baby.We have done it two ways. We either bring all of the ingredients to one home and assemble all the meals together or we make make several of our dish and then just swap(we do this when we are too busy even to get together). Both ways are great!
