Swagbucks Pays for my Gluten-Free Flours

IMG_0262

Today’s Swagbucks success story is from Mallory

I love to bake, so when I found out I was allergic to wheat and gluten about two years ago, it was a rough transition. I eventually found some good recipes and resources — the next challenge was finding the right ingredients.

It’s difficult to find gluten-free flours for a good price in our small town, but after doing some research, I found a good deal on Bob’s Red Mill brand cases of gluten free flour on Amazon.com and starting ordering from there.

Then, a little over a year ago, I learned about Swagbucks and how it worked here on MoneySavingMom.com!

When I first signed up with Swagbucks, I didn’t really know what I was doing and felt like I was doing well if I earned enough for a $5 gift card every month. Now, I am able to get $15-$20 per month by doing the following:

1. Doing the NOSO every day

2. Answering the poll and doing to corresponding activity

3. Using the toolbar

4. Running videos for a large chunk of the day

5. Using the search bar

This has been a great help and has paid for many cases of gluten-free flours. Now I can continue to bake and feed good food to the people I love!

Regarding running the videos – doesn’t that eat up electricity? I know it’s probably not much, but still. It’s a factor to consider. If it’s your phone, you’ll have to charge it more (or just leave it plugged in, which leads to a faulty battery sooner or later); same goes for a laptop. A desktop computer also takes a lot of energy. I’m just wondering if this is worth it because I’ve tried swagbucks in the past, but gave up because i figured it wasn’t worth it with those costs factored in. That, and not wanting to give away so much personal information – and filling out surveys only to find I don’t qualify and I wasted valuable time.

Swagbucks has stopped giving me credit for the videos I watch. The credit will show up and then disappear. Only sporadically do I retain those credits. I am disenchanted with that avenue for earning credits because I have lost so many (although, after complaining on two different occasions, they credited me with 10 points). I am usually turned down for surveys because I don’t qualify, so I don’t waste my time going there either. I do earn points by searching and shopping and I am not disappointed with that.

    Ways I earn Swagbucks:

    1. Daily Poll (1 SB)
    2. Skip through NOSO (2SB)
    3. Click on Toolbar (1SB)
    4. Play RadioLoyalty (under Discover tab/Special Offers) while I’m doing other things on or off the computer. (3SB every 30 minutes)
    a. Pick a genre
    b. Enter a captcha phrase every 30 minutes
    5. Play SBTV on my phone (Daily limit 50SB)
    6. Play EntertaiNOW on phone (Daily limit 40-160SB–currently it’s 120SB)
    7. Play Encrave Videos (under Discover tab/Special Offers) in “Discovery” mode by clicking on the X while I’m cooking, in the shower, etc. I do have to clear my computer’s cache’ 1-2 times per day doing this. (2-4SB each time)
    8. Doing “Searches” through Swagbucks (random amounts of SB)
    9. Printing & redeeming coupons (10SB per coupon redeemed)
    10. Occasionally making online purchases through Swagbucks “Shop & Earn” (I go through Ebates or Mr. Rebates if they have a higher rebate amount.)

So, every time I start running the videos on my computer I end up with my computer slowing way down. I get a virus or something. We do have virus protection on the computer. Any one else have this problem, or know what to do to prevent it?

    • Luba says:

Melissa, I totally understand. Swagbucks drove my mom crazy, and she got rid of it. I got rid of it too because to me it’s not worth their tracking all my moves and knowing all that info about me to earn “free” money. (You can take it for it’s worth. 🙂 )

You can trade 475 bing points for 500 swagbucks! and the bing points are guaranteed – one for every 2 searches. I’ve earned about $5 every month for the searches alone. Btw – It’s a slightly better deal to redeem for amazon giftcards with swagbucks than it is redeeming off the bing site.

  • CJ says:

K, how long do you spend each day doing different SB tasks?

  • Merrilee Stevenson says:

Is there a way to do the SBTV so it plays by itself? I’d probably play more videos if I didn’t have to go back and click on a new one every 3minutes!

I earned a lot when I bought flowers online for Mother’s Day. I’m curious what other people shop for regularly that earns them Swag bucks.
