I stopped by Dillon’s to pick up some of the Annie’s Mac & Cheese which was on $0.49 when you bought 10. The children love this stuff, so I always stock up with enough to last us for at least six to eight weeks when it goes on sale.
I also found strawberries marked down to only $0.99 per package, so I snatched up some of those to freeze for smoothies. And then I picked up a few other deals and freebies.
My total was around $21 at Dillons.
Later on in the week, I swung by the health food store to see if there were any great mark-downs. I was extremely excited to find organic, hormone-free ground chuck marked down from around $6 per package to only $1.99 per package! I also found raspberries marked down to $0.99 (which I’ll also be freezing) and a bag of organic apples for only $0.99 plus a few other items. My total there was around $21, too.
And then I bought farm-fresh eggs from my brother.
So our grocery expenditures ending up totaling around $46 this week.

What’re the top things in your picture from health food store? Just curious. Is the tube on the left polenta?
Good job on your shopping this week!

Thanks for the heads-up on the mac and cheese, it wasn’t in my store deals feed from you! I just bought 13 boxes, son is sad I didn’t get any shells, so I guess I will go buy 10 more 🙂

I am constantly amazed at the mark downs and sales you get. They NEVER mark down produce here other than bananas and the Annie’s Mac n Cheese? The lowest I have ever seen it is $1.25 a box.

Just curious — when you buy farm fresh eggs, do you find a little bit of blood in them from time to time? I am assuming that it is a wee fertilized chicken, but not sure. Do you eat them anyway if you do? I only find them when I buy cage free or farm fresh eggs, not regular store bought ones. Just curious what other people do about it.
Abbie says
@Elisa, We have had chickens in the past and it is normal. We just had hens, so no chance of baby chickens, and we would still get blood in the eggs from time to time. It’s fine, you can pick it out if you want to. Aren’t farm fresh eggs so much better then store bought? There is no comparison on the color and taste! 🙂

Wow, I’m so jealous – raspberries and strawberries! You can make some great desserts with those, smoothies..and well the possibilities seem endless. That organic ground chuck is a fabulous deal too, I can rarely even find the non-organic ground chuck at that price.
I had a hectic week and just managed to pick up a few deals, because I was on foot. I’m hoping to be able to go get the rest tomorrow, if my husband can give me a ride.
I’m giving away lots of money for groceries at Frugality Is Free – Win 7 x $25 ALDI gift Certificates and 2 x $25 Del Monte gcs.

I hit up this deal too!! I had several .75/2 and $1/2 Annie’s coupons from a tearpad a few months ago that I used as well. My bill ended up to be nearly nothing and since we’re already WELLLLLL stocked up on macaroni and cheez, we put it in our donation box. Great deal! I wish they ran this every week!

Whenever Annie’s mac and cheese is on sale for that price, we always stock up (about 20 boxes) too. It’s a super easy lunch for SO to fix the kids while I’m at work (and they love it).
