Seeing as I had a baby Wednesday night, I didn't go out shopping today. I did consider it all of about three seconds but then quickly decided I'd much rather stay home and snuggle with my precious little baby boy.
I mean, wouldn't you choose time with these little ones over grocery shopping anyday? 🙂
But, I'm pretty sure that my hubby did every bit as good at bargain shopping tonight as I could have. Look what he got:
All that was $108 before coupons and sales. After coupons and sales? He paid $43.13! Yep, I'd say he's pretty good at this bargain-shopping thing.
We didn't need to buy that much this week since we're being blessed with meals from families in our church, but there were a few items we had to get (milk, rubbing alcohol, ibuprofen, and toilet paper) and I also wanted to pick up some easy snacks to have on hand for myself and the girls (fruit, cheese cubes, Kashi waffles, and Chiquita bites).
Since Jesse was going to be heading to the store anyway, I thought we might as well take advantage of the cereal deal they were running, too. Do you think we now have enough cereal to last us for awhile? All the boxes were $0.98 each after the sale and coupon–which is my target price for cereal–so I figured we might as well stock up!
Maybe by next week, I'll be ready to be back in the saddle when it comes to grocery shopping and menu-planning. In the mean time, though, I'm just enjoying the brand-new newborn days. They won't last for long and I want to soak every bit of them up!

One gallon of milk and ALL that cereal! That’s kinda funny! You obviously married well: he can bargain shop almost as well as you, AND he’s given you three gorgeous children. You know the kudos list is much longer, and you are VERY blessed.
Also, dry cereal makes a decent snack.
Happy Mother’s day!

Meijer has Kellogg’s cereal 5/$9 this week, so hubby went to Walmart this evening & ad-matched, used our $1 off coupons & got 24 boxes for .80 each! We will be repeating this with our other nearby Walmart within a few days!

Looks like the cereal stash I got this week. Our Kroger would only take 2 internet coupons per transactions, though, so I had to do about 6 transactions. 🙂

I LOVE< LOVE< LOVE it when you share pictures! children are true blessings! I got the nice Kroger deal as well..using all those wonderful $1.00 off coupons. Kroger here have the cereal on sale for $1.88 a box, I guess that it varies by region (maybe). The Kelloggs coupons have been reset in some areas... You can't beat $0.88 for name brand cereal! I blog about it here http://swappinspoons.blogspot.com

Me and my daughter bought 13 boxes of cereal at .88 a piece from Scots. Here in Fort Wayne the deal was $1.88 for the Kellogs cereal and we used our $1.00 off coupons from coupons. com and Kellogs cereal site to get the boxes at a great deal. I am picking up some more tomorrow the deal ends on the 13th.

I took advantage of the same cereal deal so I sent 9 boxes with the postman today for the special feed the hungry-deal they had going on today.
If I remember right, I think about day 3 after delivery is when the milk usually comes in and I would definitely not want to be grocery shopping when trying to deal with that!
Glad you haven’t rushed in getting out.

Where did you get all the cereal?
*********************
Money Saving Mom here: My apologies on forgetting to share *where* the deal was from. Many Kellogg’s cereals were on sale for $1.98/box at Dillons (a Kroger affiliate store) this week. So with the recent $1/1 coupons, we got the boxes for $0.98 each.

What store has the cereal deal?

Gosh little Silas sure is a cutie. I’ve got two girls and can’t imagine what it would be like to have a little boy! I’m so used to girls, girls, girls…
I went to CVS two days after I had my baby…to get painkillers ha ha ha! I had no desire whatsoever to do any deals (although I did use a coupon!). I was literally hobbling through the aisles to get to the pharmacy. I think you’re considered off the hook!
Joanne B says
Congratulations on your beautiful baby boy. What a blessing!! What a wonderful family you have. Thank you for all the deals you find I read your blog almost everyday.
Theresa says
Very adorable precious wee one you have there.
I’m stocking up on the cereal as well although I admit to being a bit conflicted about buying so much “sugar” cereal. I guess Frosted Flakes every once in awhile isn’t the end of the world and my husband and son love me for it!
************************
Money Saving Mom here: I debated on buying the Frosted Flakes, too, since those are more sugary than we usually buy. (We’re mostly Cheerios, Raisin Bran, and Mini-Wheats people around here.) But I’m being a little lenient right now so we “splurged” and bought them. 🙂
Joy Freed says
Congrats on the new baby — definitely a cutie! (Great name too!) Your cereal stash looks about like ours from this week. : )

My local supermarket, Berkots, was running a special on Kellogs cereal 6/$10. Combined with the $1/1 MF Coupons I ended up paying about .67 each! Needless to say, I bought 18 boxes of cereal. You just can’t beat that when it costs about $4 a box these days!
Caroline Grossman says
I am an avid reader of your blog and am so thrilled to read about your delivery and that God has blessed you with Silas. Blessings to your family and congratulations on your newest gift from God.
Noah Heutchy says
I think I have about 30 boxes of cereal in my pantry right now! All for $1 or less a box. I just keep buying it when it’s cheap, and stocking up, since it lasts a while. You really can’t have too much, and if you do local food banks are always grateful!

I don’t have my own blog really but I’d thought I’d share real fast in the comment section. We have Grocery stores in our area called Farm Fresh, they double coupons everyday up to .99 but on Wednesdays now they double up to and including $1.00
So I did the cereal deal also! We got 11 boxes of cereal for right around $5 the corn pops were free because they were 2/$3 and all the other boxes were.50 each because they were 2/$5 and they were the BIG boxes too!
side note: the smaller boxes of the same cereal were 2/$6 were the bigger were 2/$5 both at everyday prices, so strange. it reminded me to always check price thoroughly lol
Jennifer D says
CONGRATULATIONS on your little miracle! He’s absolutely adorable and soooo precious (okay–don’t post any more pix..you are going to make me want another!!) Oh- enjoy him every second–you know how fast it goes! My thoughts are with you all!
