Super Savings Saturday: Dillon’s, Aldi and the health food store

I was really excited about the grocery deals we were able to get this week:

Deals from the health food store: Free Happy Baby Melts (used free coupon), organic kefir marked down to $0.99, a big bag of green beans marked down to $0.99, and 2 dozen organic eggs for free (they were marked down to $0.99 and I had coupons for $2 off any 2 Organic Valley products. Total spent: $2.58

Deals from Dillon’s: Yoplait yogurt for $0.09 each after coupon, peanut butter for $1, Let’s Grow product for free (used free product coupon), frozen veggies for $0.50 per box, Softsoap for free after coupon, and yes, I actually paid $1 for toothpaste. (Somehow, I managed to completely overlook the fact that we were almost out. I usually never pay for toothpaste, but I didn’t have another choice, so I just suck it up and pay. But I’m going to be on a keen lookout for a great toothpaste deal so I don’t have to pay for it again!) Total spent: $5.15

Deals at Aldi: Bread, English Muffins, carrots for $0.45, oranges for $1.99, tomatoes for $1.49, 3 blocks of cheese, 6 packages of strawberries for $0.99 each, chips, avocados, and more carrots. Total spent: $23.75

My husband also bought two gallons of milk (not pictured) so altogether, we spent around $38 on groceries this week.

You always have such Healthy food at crazy low prices, I seem to never do that well. Way to go!

  • Nancy Karrer says:

I agree with Maranda. What health food store it is? I’m guessing it’s not a chain. Free organic valley eggs is amazing! do they expire soon?

  • corrie says:

I wish we had stores like you. I live in south texas and all we have here are HEB and Super WalMart. Keep up the great work!!!!!!

  • Amy says:

Great Savings this week!! Strawberries are on sale here for $0.88 a pack and the kids are enjoying them as much as I’m enjoying the price!

  • Jerilyn says:

Great deals! I got 4 wheaties fuel and 4 ronzoni’s for 4.46 and $4 off my next order!

  • Tracy Y says:

What Health Food store do you go to?! I only buy organic – I am sure to use coupons but I NEVER see things marked that low! Way to go!! 🙂

  • Andrea says:

Yes, I agree, I am very envious of your health food store deals! even your regular store markdowns blow my mind, my stores here in WI don’t do markdowns on near expiration date products, very frustrating.
    Way to go

  • Sherri says:

Oh, too funny- I had to actually pay for toothpaste last week, as well. Not just one tube, though- we were empty in both bathrooms, so I ended up buying two. Next time I’ll keep better track of my stock!

  • Lana says:

My Aldi had strawberries for 69 cents this week! I put some in the freezer and strawberry shortcake is on the menu for Sunday dinner.

The Still Tasty site says eggs are good 3-5 weeks past the date on them. This is so good to know. Organic eggs are wonderful!

  • Meghan says:

Nice! I always love to see what you buy. Quick question. I’d like to shop more health food stores, but am a rookie. In your experience, is there a certain section to look for discount items or do you just see them spread throughout? Thanks!

  • Christina says:

Wow, I’m gonna see if our health food stores have any specials this week (plus look for any coupons I can use). FYI, our Aldi had a special purchase this week — EnviroKidz gluten-free cereals, the Gorilla Munch & Panda Puffs, for $2.49/box!! WOWWWWW!!!! I usually get them at Wal-Mart (one of the local WM’s has a small GF section, also has Koala Crisp) for 3.89 (?), or at Kroger (where they also carry the Leapin’ Lemurs variety) for 4.89 (if I’m really desperate; usually only buy there on sale or with store coupon). I sent DH to Aldi to stock up on the cereals, and he only got 5 boxes! (LOL) I’m trying to get there today or tomorrow to get 5 more before they’re gone! Here’s hoping it’ll become a regular feature!

  • WHOO HOO – those are such fun finds. Love when I hit the jackpot on organic. i get marked down organic milk often, but not the others as much.
We were at the beach this week and shopping at Walmart with out coupons was painful. 🙂

Does Aldi ever carry organic food produce?
