Honest Review: My husband signed up for Smile Direct Club 15 months ago. They recommended a 6 month plan and we got started right away. However. It’s been 15 months now and his teeth have not been straightened. We’ve contacted customer service 3 times asking for a new set of aligners and have not received anything for 3 months. He has been faithful to wear the aligners every day, so we’re pretty disappointed with the company.
Customer service has been terrible!
And his teeth have not been straightened. I would advise caution before signing up for this program!
That is so weird… you didn’t see any change at all?? I’m so sorry you’ve had a frustrating experience. Have you tried reaching out them on Twitter? I found that they are pretty responsive there.
There was improvement in his upper teeth, but not lower. SDC agreed in all phone and FaceTime conversations that he was not done with slingers yet, but simply have not sent them. After 3 separate phone conversations. Over 3 months, so plenty of time for them to have arrived.
We may have to try Twitter to see if we have a more productive response. Thanks for that tip!
Hi Shauna,
I had a similar experience where what was promised was not delivered. I was given a few more months of aligners, still without success. I reached out for a refund. In digging around, it seems like people have to sign NDAs to get any money back. I had success reaching out to the founder of the company – customer service was zero help, but the founder pushed my case along.
We had an awful time working with SmileDirect. They sent us aligners we didn’t even order and then made it a 6-month ordeal to get our refund. It was clearly documented (on both my & their end!) that I did not order the aligners and they made it absolutely miserable to get it figured out. I think their strategy was to wait us out in the hopes we would just give up, accept them, and pay. Only when we got our bank consumer advocates department involved did it finally get resolved. I would stay far, far away from this company – total scam.
I’m so sorry you had a bad experience. I had a great experience with them so they are definitely not a scam. I’ve heard that sometimes their customer service has had issues… but I never experienced that. I recommend reaching out to them on social media if you are having issues getting in touch with them via email.
I don’t believe so, but you could always contact them to find out! -Meg, MSM Team
