My friend, Brenda, is hosting another Busy Bag Swap, this time a Math & Reading Busy Bag Swap.
We’ve participated in some of the Busy Bag Swaps she’s hosted and it has been a great experience. My children have all loved the bags of fun activities we received and these have provided hours of fun and entertainment for them.
You’ll want to read the details on how the swaps work here and then, if you are still interested, sign up for the Math & Reading Busy Bag Swap here.

I recently organized a Busy Bag Swap locally w/ 10 other moms. We each chose 2 activities and made 10 of each…….they emailed me their ideas ahead of time to make sure we didn’t duplicate or have too many of one topic (ABCs etc.). We met and swapped….I walked away w/ 20 Busy Bags for my toddler which we are just starting to explore! No shipping and very easy to find 10 moms if you put out an email to explain it clearly w/ links to pages that have ideas etc.

Do you have to come up with your own idea for the 30 bags that you would be making? I’m not very creative, but I could definitely put together someone else’s idea.

There’s a long list of ideas to choose from on the post.

I did the preschool busy bag swap and it was worth every penny. My kids LOVE them. They can’t get enough of them and I love that they aren’t getting into mischief or sitting in front of a screen. I just signed up for this one and I can’t wait to get started. By the way, yes, it does cost some, but you can use the bags for your kids (and pass it down) and then gift it to another mom. Also, it only cost me about $15 to make last time, $7 to send because my project was light, and $15 for the return box—-so it won’t necessarily be $50-$60.

Nothing to do with the post, but those little toes peeking in to the edge of the picture are just so precious! 🙂

Do you know any other preschool swaps? I am kicking myself for not doing her preschool swap..didn’t know what it was but it looks awesome…but it sounds like she might not do another for quite a while…

So I read through the rules, seems as though with making 30 $1 bags, paying $15.xx for return shipping and the initial shipping of the items to the coordinator(up to $15.xx) we’re going to be paying $60 for 30 $1 busy bags? Why don’t we just use the links and make ourselves the 30 bags?
Crystal says
You definitely could–and many have. However, I and many others have found that it’s much less expensive (and time consuming) to make a bunch of one bag, than to have to make a bunch of different bags. For me, the $50-60 and 4-6 hours spent has resulted in hours upon hours upon hours of fun and productive quiet for the children.

i agree with Crystal.. the out of pocket is $$ at first (i recently did the toddler and preschooler swap) BUT i only had to focus on two bags (one for each swap) and didnt have tons of left over stuff from each activity.. my sons have LOVED every thing that comes in the box.. and some go above and beyond which makes the bags soo exciting..
BUT you can (and i plan on doing for the next one) organize your own with a group of moms you do playdates with.. that will lower the cost on shipping… just an idea!

I signed up to do the swap and I am really excited! But now after reading this I am thinking I should also start a preschool swap within my mom’s group. Thanks for that great idea!!!!!

A friend and I with similar aged kids split the cost and the work . Neither of us needs 30 activities at either of our houses at once, so we plan to trade off periodically.
