Several questions I hope someone can help me out…I live in a rural area. We don’t have any paid TV. And only one of the big 3 main broadcast stations have signal in my house. I’m not a technical person, but we do have internet and a router to run my husband’s work laptop. Our TV is a LG flat screen from 2008 or 2009. How does this stick work in basic terms? Do you plug it into TV? Does it come with a monthly subscription you pay more for or is it just the one time purchase of the stick itself? Can you get any free channels? (If so, what might they be?) Is Roku the best one to get or Fire Stick or something else? Thanks in advance for any help on this.

The Roku and Fire Stick are both streaming devices. You just plug them into your TV and it’s a one-time fee. With these devices, you can stream Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, etc. You do have to pay the monthly subscriptions to those individual services, but the Roku and Fire Stick allow you to stream those subscriptions. Does that help and make sense? Let me know if you have any other questions! As far as Roku versus Fire Stick, it really just depends on personal preference. I think they’re both really compatible to one another and do pretty much the same thing, so just go with the cheapest one. The Fire Stick is on sale for $24.99 shipped this week! 🙂 -Meg, MSM Team

Thanks so much! One more question and that is all, I promise! Do you or anyone else know of a device that plugs in similar to this, but it only acts as a good antennae to make the basic free broadcasting channels come in clearly with a good signal? If so, ideas on where to buy and how much?
