Your recent post about giving from our abundance made me think of a site I recently discovered — The Hunger Site. Thanks to the generous support of sponsors, every day when you click on the site, you can donate 1.1 cups of food. Cool!
I’ve had fun teaching my little guy about the beatitudes and he loves to crawl up in my lap to help work the computer and donate food for the hungry. Every little bit counts!
There are also other links on the page, like one for giving life saving medicine to children. -Cher

Don’t forget to click the tabs at the top of the hunger page and go to the other sites and click their links as well. I signed up for a reminder on the hunger site, but it’s so easy to go to the other tabs there is no reason not to click on those as well. There’s 3 that help children get healthcare, women get mamograms, and children books respectively and there’s two others that help perserve about 11 sq. ft of forest for clicking and donate .6 bowl of food to rescued animals. Not a bad way to help out. Plus you can help further by shopping on the site. I really like that fact that it quantifies how much help you’re giving. I saw candles that they are selling that give 20-25 cups of food to hungry people when purchased.

@Liz, PS: Someone suggested if you sign up for each site you will get a lot of e-mails but you could always unsubscribe after a week or two and pick your favorite one to remind you to visit the sites, if you register for the rainforest one for in addition to hunder site for example it helps save 91 sq feet of forest and they send you a bracelet and you can choose to only get the weekly e-newsletter. That’s not exactly going to fill up your inbox.

You can also sign up to receive a reminder email each day– I’d suggest just signing up at one of the sites, or you’ll get a 7 reminder emails each day!
I’ve done Hunger Site for 10 years– they are great.

Thank you for posting this as a reminder. I’ve seen these sites around for years and have clicked on them (when I remember). I scrolled to the bottom of the page and saw that this site is sponsored by Charity USA (www.charityusa.com). If you go to their site, they have a lot of information about how these “clicks” are paid and other sites that they operate that help various charities. It’s very exciting and encouraging to see websites like that. I am online all day long because I work from home so I have NO excuse not to simply visit the site and click. I plan to write a post on my blog about this topic soon as a reminder to myself and others that every little thing that we do affects someone, somewhere, no matter how insignificant it may seem to us. Blessings!

Thanks for the reminder! I have the hunger site and the free rice site bookmarked, but I haven’t remembered to go to them lately. Some of the other sites contribute to free mammograms and animal rescue. Like with coupons and savings :-), I am sure every little bit adds up for them.

that hunger site has several links for various projects.
does anyone know about that site? like how it works? me clicking causes someone else to pay for the donation?
Leah says
@melissa, They explain in the FAQs that an ad pops up at the bottom of the screen each time you get a question, and the money they make from the ad pays for the rice 🙂

@melissa, You can also click on the breast cancer tab to donate mammograms to needy women. These sites allow you to sign up to get a daily reminder email so you can remember to click daily.

There’s also a site called free rice dot com that donates rice when you play games on their site. So, not only are you helping feed the hungry but you’re also exercising your brain.

@Carrie, Ditto. It’s great for vocab improvement. I haven’t done the other games yet.
