National Consumer Panel: Earn AT&T Discounts + Amazon Gift Cards!

Looking for creative ways to stretch your budget and earn a little extra? The National Consumer Panel (formerly known as Nielsen Home Scan) is accepting new applicants in many locations right now!

I loved this honest testimonial that reader Susan sent in about her experience as a National Consumer Panelist:

“I have been a member with The National Consumer Panel since June, 2015. Because there was a need for members in my area, I was accepted promptly after filling out my application.

As a member,  you are asked to record every purchase that you make by either scanning the bar code or manually entering your item. In return, every week that you transmit a purchase, you receive points. You can also answer surveys and install the Amazon shopper tracker on your computer for the opportunity to earn extra points. Over time, accumulated points can be redeemed for products in the NCP reward catalog or for Amazon, iTunes, and electronic gift cards.

I have personally found the accumulation of points to be rather slow, and only recently was able to redeem my points that accumulated over the duration of my membership for a $50 Amazon gift card. I have discovered, however, that there are extra ways to earn!

The main incentive for me to join NCP was the AT&T discount that is offered to panelists who have been actively participating on the panel for at least 3 months. Initially this discount amounted to about a $40 a month savings for my family! We have since changed our plan up a bit and we now receive a $15 monthly discount. The discount also applies to all accessories that are sold at AT&T stores. I have taken advantage of the accessory discount on numerous occasions!

I have also been able to earn Amazon gift cards through the participation of food consumption diaries. About once a quarter, I have been invited to record my food consumption for a period of 2 weeks, via a downloadable app. Sometimes it has been just a snack consumption diary and other times it has been total food consumed on a daily basis. These invitations extend to every member in your household and pay out a $15 – $25 Amazon gift card per participant.

Being a National Consumer Panelist does require a time investment, but I have definitely enjoyed the AT&T discounts and the Amazon gift cards. It has been an overall great experience for me!”

Please understand – it requires a HUGE time investment. If you have the time – go for it. For some reason I did not understand that and thought I could simply scan receipts….but that’s not how it works. I simply did not have enough to scan every single item I purchased. They will ‘cut you off’ after a certain amount of time goes by and you fail to scan, and they require their equipment back (hold on to that box – just in case) or they will send your info to a collections agency (I sent my stuff back! Whew!)

I’m not knocking the program – it just didn’t work for me because it’s so time consuming.

Are they still doing giftcards for amazon? I looked in the rewards book and it only lists movie theatre s.
