So I skipped doing the Homemaking Challenge myself yesterday so I could rest, but I’m feeling MUCH better today and am planning to tackle my closet and the books (I just recently went through all the books and pared them way down, so that should be an easy task for me.)
Here’s today’s assignment, if you want to join in:
Today’s Assignment
1. Get dressed in something that makes you feel great.
2. Make a short to-do list for the day.
3. Tidy up your kitchen — do the dishes and wipe the counter tops off.
4. Make your bed.
5. Go through your books — only keep those that you love and/or know for sure you’ll need or use in the future.
I’m also going to be reading through The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up (can you believe I haven’t read it?) and blogging my thoughts as I read the book this week, too. Today, I’ll be reading pages 130-173. I’ll have a post up with my thoughts later today.
Who’s joining me? Leave a comment to let me know if you’re planning to participate!

I sorted my books on Monday and told myself I could only keep 10 books from my growing up years. I found myself with two bags of books to give away and happy with the books I decided to keep. I can’t part with Home for a Bunny, Miss Jellytot’s Visit, or Goose Goofs Off. LOL. I am such a child at heart. I kept Little Women and Anne of Green Gables. Now, my books fit easily into 2 bins and once my daughter and granddaughter move out my home office will be so much less cluttered. Thanks for all the inspiration.

Yesterday I did all my clothes except jewelry. Loved it! Folding took the longest. 😉 Tomorrow I plan to do jewelry and books.

I enjoy the Marie Kondo’s examples of how to sort each item to tell if it is something we truly love. I can’t help but to compare her to the cartoon character named “Edna Mode” that designed the Superhero outfits (or costumes) in The Incredibles 1—quoted “No Capes ever!” You could just about substitute any of the household items in your home for the “cape”.

I feel like this book is everywhere I look right now in my life! I read one blog, they are talking about it. I read another, they are talking about! I haven’t ever read the book, but I almost feel like I don’t need to know with how much it’s being covered. 🙂
Anyway, a blogger friend of mine wrote a good post about this book just today, about how we need to be careful with what all we are “KonMari’ing” in our lives. The principal should be applied to things only, not people. It was a thought-provoking observation, in my opinion. Here is the link to the blog post:
