Today, we’re reading section 2 from I Used to Be So Organized (pages 47-83, chapters 4-7). I loved this quote:
“Success with small, solid, disciplined habits leads to achievement with greater projects. Which is why making your bed and being on time for church are important habits to master.”
I told you yesterday that I was going to work on two small habits this week: the habit of timeliness (especially being on time for my daily Periscope shows) and the habit of not checking my email until after 12:30 p.m..
Here’s the thing: both of those seem pretty small and simple. They don’t require tons of effort or time to pull off. They require intention and planning ahead — but not in massive amounts. Just little tweaks and changes.
But by making those two small habits a priority yesterday, it made a HUGE difference in my day. I felt so much more at peace. My house stayed cleaner. I was able to be more present with my family. I got more done, too!
And things like this large laundry pile that is staring me in the face today don’t feel so overwhelming or stressful. It’s amazing the difference small tweaks and changes can make in our overall outlook, energy, productivity, and joy!
Also, be sure to catch the end of my scope this morning where I shared another quote from this book that I especially loved.
How are YOU doing on the 1-2 habits you committed to yesterday? Tell us in the comments. (And if you didn’t commit to something, go ahead and leave a comment telling us what you’re committing to.)

How do you find time to read? I’ve got a 2 year old and 2 month old and I find it challenging to find time. At night, I can choose between reading, sleeping or catching up on social media. The later 2 usually win. 😉 What’s your secret?
P.s. I saved this book on my Amazon wish list to read next. Currently attempting to read Living Well Spending Less.

Saw your post today when you addressed my question. Thank you! Those tips will help make more time to read and make it a priority. 🙂

Well apparently I am still improving in the area of “time blocking.” Because I have not yet created my schedule for the day and it’s 1:30.. : / Sounds kinda crazy, but with a 16 month old running the show.. I mean running around.. Haha I think I will click off now, and time block away!! 😉

1. I need to get my blogs posts done. I ended up having no time today, but I did accomplish something else I’ve been putting off so that was good.
2. I have several major things to do this week and I’m trying to avoid getting sick yet again so I actually get them done.

I had committed to two things: 1. Going to bed by 10 each night this week
2. Taming the laundry pile
Yesterday I did make it in bed on time. It felt wonderful! I didn’t do any laundry, but I spent quite a bit of much-needed time with my husband. I thought it was a pretty good trade off! I’ll be working on laundry tonight after my blog work.

Hi! I’m committing to going to bed at 10:30 for the rest of this week. I work the night shift as a mother/baby nurse, but I have the rest of the week off! I’d love to catch up on my rest. My other commitment is to spending at least one hour per day studying for my proofread anywhere course.

I find when I am completely overwhelmed it really helps me to pare down and focus on one or two habits too. At least I feel “successful” accomplishing those two habits even if everything else falls apart!
