I am happy to see someone else with a simple breakfast and lunch meal plan. Here is our meal plan for the week:

I have also started doing more of my shopping at Aldi’s and appreciate the simplicity of not having to worry about coupons and whether they go through correctly or not.

Your weekly menu looks yummy (and exactly like something I would plan)! Thanks for sharing.

I had the same problem at Kroger, but I spotted it at the check out so they were able to fix it. Definitely take the receipt to the service desk – it has obviously happened a lot, so they should easily fix it for you.

My Dillons won’t refund the money at customer service. It is very frustrating as I often have issues with the e-coupons. I have contacted the Dillons headquarters and am waiting to hear back from them.

I heard that the Kroger cheese e-coupons were not working right the first day or 2 but now it is working on up to 5. I would definitely call or go the service desk. They should be able to refund the money.
Jessica says
I’ve had similar issues with e-coupons at different stores- Meijer, Kroger, etc. It is frustrating to have to stand in an extra line to get refunded your money back!
Jennifer says
.99 cents for a pint of blueberries??? I’m envious. $2.99 is usually the cheapest I get them in Maine a.ka. the edge of the universe. Very rarely they’ll be 2 for $5.
Enjoy 🙂
Gretchen says
YES! Isn’t that such an amazing price!?! I was so excited!! 🙂
Debi says
Gretchen, we shop at Dillon’s and we just took our receipt up to customer service and they refunded the difference. Sometimes, the e-coupons glitch a little. They will gladly give you the difference….every little bit helps.
Thanks for sharing your menu!

For some reason my Dillons will NOT refund money from e-coupons. I have tried several times (because I often have trouble with the e-coupons not working correctly) and it’s always the same. They said they aren’t responsible for e-coupons not working. 🙁 I have contacted the Dillons headquarters and am waiting to hear back from them.

Would you be willing to share the name of the health food store? We moved to your area recently and I’d love to check it out. Thank you!
Gretchen says
The name is Green Acres. I love the store but don’t always make it there (or sometimes I go and don’t find any good deals).
Melissa says
Thank you! We went there a couple of weeks ago because we’re experimenting with a gluten and dairy free diet for our boys. I was surprised to find that quite a few items I was looking for were lower priced than Dillons.

I have a Kroger down here and used those digital coupons for 3 shredded cheeses, 3 sliced cheeses, and a couple of cream cheeses and everything came off like it was suppose to. 🙁 I’m so sorry that didn’t happen for you! It was a really good deal and the only reason I got cheese at Kroger instead of Aldi was because of those coupons.
Amie says
I will have to try spaghetti pie. My husband loves lasagna and I just made it. I estimate my lasagna costs about $6 for a large pan, but I could probably make this recipe for about $3. The ingredients are similar, but spaghetti noodles are much cheaper than lasagna noodles and this recipe takes less cheese.
I would contact Dillons regarding the digital coupons not coming off. I shop Kroger and they have scanned my card, pulled up the digital coupon in question, and refunded my money. Just last week, I bought boneless chicken breast and did not realize it rang in regular price until I got home. I called and they told me to bring the label and receipt in the next time I shop and they would refund the difference and give me a $5 gift card. I did so and had no trouble at Customer Service. I was thrilled to be able to save $5 off that shopping trip.

I contacted Dillons and am waiting to hear back from them. I have tried talking to customer service at my Dillons before and they will never refund the money or take if off my order. So I figured it wasn’t worth trying again.

I agree with Jennifer, Gretchen. It is definitely worth a phone call. Thanks for sharing your shopping and menu with us. You can find my weekly menu at http://adayinthelifeonthefarm.blogspot.com/2014/07/anticipating-crazy-week-and-weekly-menu.html

I used the cheese coupon today at Kroger and it worked on the three blocks I bought. Wonder why it didn’t work for you?
Kay says
You do such a good job of feeding a family of 6. I feed 7 and it is difficult. I also love Aldi but the closest one is 25 minutes away so I only go once a month. I do more canning, freezing and I do a lot of scratch baking.
Gretchen says
Actually I’m only feeding 3 people – you probably have been confused with Brigette. 🙂

For Gretchen:
I would definitely contact Dillons about the e-coupon. We don’t have Dillons here, but do have Kroger. The number I was given (for Kroger) is 1-866-221-4141. They’ve helped me in similar situations. Hey, it is $3!
This is what my same (Kroger) coupon states:
Save $1.50 when you buy any ONE (1) KRAFT Natural Shredded (7-8 oz) or Block Cheese (5-8 oz).
You may use this coupon up to 5 times in a single transaction.
Limit of one coupon per item. Digital coupons and paper coupons may not be combined on the purchase of a single item.
Gretchen says
Thanks for the suggestion! I did contact Dillons and am waiting to hear back from them.
Kathy says
You can also send them an e-mail from the website that you load the e-coupons. I have always been very specific concerning the problem and try to give the information straight from the receipt with the unique code and other pertinent info. They have usually put a “refund” back to my card and I get a “customer credit” off my next order. One time I received an e-mail letting me know they did this and the second time I received no e-mail but there was a credit waiting on my card when I checked out. I also have had good results by just bringing the receipt to the customer service desk the next time I shopped there. 🙂
Jennifer B. says
Did they ever get back with you? Were they able to credit you with an e-coupon to use on your next visit? (That’s what they did for me before.)
I agree that waiting in line for Customer Service isn’t worthwhile and is unlikely to result in correction of the issue (although that’s how I found out you can contact a toll-free number for possible resolution).
Just curious if it worked for you to get what you SHOULD have in the first place!
