What I don’t get is how you made lasagna from that shopping list–I don’t see lasagna noodles, spaghetti sauce, ground beef or sausage or ricotta cheese. What’s the trick? I don’t see those on previous shopping trips either…

Great question! I will use ground venison instead of ground beef since my husband is a hunter and we have lots of venison in our freezer. I also stock up on pasta whenever it’s on sale and will use whatever I have on hand vs actual lasagna noodles. It’s cheaper that way. 🙂 I bought spaghetti sauce and cottage cheese a couple of weeks ago and then we all got terribly sick that week so I didn’t end up using them (we lived on saltines and ginger ale that week!). If you look back at my shopping trip a few weeks ago you’ll see those on the list.
Every week when I plan my menu, I always look through my pantry and refrigerator/freezer to see what meals I can make with what ingredients I have/need to use up before I look at the sales. I end up saving money that way and using up things in my house before they go bad, too!!
I hope that helps! – Gretchen, MSM Team
