Several items on your menu use bread, especially lunches, do you make it from scratch or did you stock up previously?
Gretchen says
A loaf of bread can last us 1-3 weeks so I usually buy them when they are on sale and then freeze them right away. I got a loaf almost free at Target last week which is what we are using this week. 🙂

How do you get Dillon’s mailer coupons?
Gretchen says
My mom and mother-in-law actually give me the ones they get in the mail. I have tried time and time again to get on their mailing list but I never get them. I’m not really sure what the trick is to getting signed up and neither my mom nor mother-in-law knows why Dillons mails them coupons.
Diana says
Yum! These photos always make me hungry 🙂 Put a pepperoni slice on the grilled cheese for a treat 🙂 (Yummy as an open-faced sandwich under the broiler–the pepperoni gets crispy like a pizza parlor and the cheese gets a bit browned.)
Jennifer says
How did you use 8 Crest toothpaste coupons? Our kroger only allows 3.
Gretchen says
Our Dillons doesn’t have a limit on how many like coupons you can use, however, between all of the printables (I printed them last month and this month) and inserts, I had only 2 of the same coupons. P&G has a limit of 4 like coupons per transaction so I would have been limited if I only had coupons from inserts.

The crest coupon says it is not for the cavity toothpaste . Yet your picture shows the Cavity kind too. Did they allow it or did you use a different coupon? I only use the Crest Cavity toothpaste and would like to print coupons if they accept it. Thanks
Gretchen says
All the coupons I used were for ANY Crest toothpaste. I hope that helps!
Emily says
I just printed the Crest coupon linked above, and it does say that it excludes Cavity. I wonder if any other types are on sale for $1.

Wow! This is really simple, but cost effective! I’m trying to learn how to make our meals this easy to plan and prepare, still saving lots of money, but we have tons of special diet considerations in our home that seem to complicate everything. (I think I’m the one complicating it most by over-thinking, but we have to avoid gluten, soy, pork, apples, eggs, and onions… Everything takes a little extra thought and effort to watch trace ingredients.) Great job, and very doable for most of us to imitate! Thanks for sharing!
Diana says
Special diets make everything harder! 🙂 You are not alone. My son is dairy free right now, and thinking of meals and snacks for him feels like I’m reinventing the wheel every week. We’ve also done versions of grain free/paleo/gluten free/sugar free too, and in those months menu planning takes so much longer and I spend more.
So do what you can and compare yourself to yourself, not to someone else’s plan! 🙂 (Preaching to myself here, because Gretchen’s and Crystal’s menus always look so simple and delicious!)

Great words, Diana! I’m in the same boat!
The Prudent Homemaker says
Can you explain your Dillon’s coupon policy?
I don’t have double coupons here and I would like to know which ones double for you. It would be helpful if that was part of your total each week. Thanks!
Gretchen says
Our Dillons doubles coupons up to $.50 and those that are $.51-$.99 they “double” to $1.
Charity says
I really enjoy all of your posts, Gretchen. Keep ’em coming! 🙂
Gretchen says
Thank you!

We like to have breakfast for dinner too. It’s easy for me to prepare and the kids love having something different for dinner.
I found a good deal this past week on strawberries at $.50/lb and $.50 for a bag of salad mix. I am hoping to get out to Fred Meyer this week as they have $1 pineapples and I would love to get a couple to grill.
