Way to “waste not, want not!” We’ll be making sidewalk chalk paint very soon!

  • Marsha says:

Fun way to use the leftovers! You can also make Sidewalk Paint from scratch with corn starch, food coloring and water. Mix 1/4 cup corn starch with 1/4 cup cold water until liquid. Add 6-8 drops of food coloring and mix. Recipe lends itself well for larger quantities. (One year, our PTA used Sidewalk Paint to decorate the sidewalks and outside entrance to welcome all the kids and teachers back to school.)

  • Well, I was going to start dinner, but this looks like a lot more fun. I’m sure hubby will understand 🙂

We’ve already got paintbrushes outside for “painting” with water, so those will work great. I’m just trying to figure out which of us is going to have the most fun with this…it will be close. I’m very excited 🙂

  • SO, I just scoured the backyard for those knuckle scraping pieces of chalk, and made this paint. We’re talking about 30 seconds of prep time. It’s a HIT. My little one is having a grand old time. Thank you!

  • I just have to update my previous response. I just made some of this, and it was a HIT. Very fun, very very easy, and it keeps the kids occupied for more than 10 minutes! Just make sure your grill is covered…trust me on that one 🙂

    Okay, now dinner 🙂

Just like Marsha, we’ve made sidewalk paint from cornstarch and my boys loved it…it was so cool to see it dry just like chalk and it washed away just as easily 🙂
