Finding Comfort & Hope in the Midst of Tragedy

Our nation is reeling after Friday’s tragedy. Many of you have heavy, aching hearts. There is no valid explanation. There is just immense grief.

If you are hurting and feeling hopeless this Christmas due to Friday’s tragedy or other very difficult circumstances in your life, can I encourage you to download a free copy of Rachel’s ebook, 12 Days of Christmas for the Hurting. It will be free through Wednesday (December 19, 2012).

In addition, I encourage you to read Barbara Rainey’s post, Newtown, Light in the Darkness.

And I also found Jamie’s post on Newtown As I Know It to be heart-warming in the midst of such sadness.

I just read through the list of victims on a news website and prayed for each family by name. My prayer is that they will all find some comfort through God. Thanks for the links to the other posts. I, too, read Jamie’s earlier and found it heart-warming, as you said.

Thank you for these wonderful resources! My heart is indeed heavy although I know that God is ultimately in control.

It about tore me apart to have to send my kids to school this morning just like I’m sure it did for a lot of parents. I’m going to download this book right now! Thank you!

In light of recent events I plan to drop 1/2 my holiday plans and focus on spending more QUALITY time with my family. In fact, instead of buying a lot of smaller presents or electronics we decided to buy family presents that pertain to activities we can do together… we found 2 used snowmobiles through word of mouth for $500. We found a used dirt bike and 4 wheeler someone was willing to part with for $500 together and also another set of 2 kayaks with paddles for $240.
These are expensive investments but will give us time celebrating life together! Before we knew it the time to do these together would be gone and our children will not want to spend time with us because we are boring. We are working on a stronger family unit. NOW before it is too late.
