So, I’m not doing so great on this Clear Out the Clutter Challenge. Well, or at least it seems like I’ve been as slow-as-molasses-on-a-very-rainy-day in getting it done. My garage sale starts on Thursday, so I better get my act together here!
I thoroughly impressed with all of you, though. You’ve been inputting your progress in the form here and I’m blown away! Hundreds of you have cleared out dozens–or even hundreds!–of items. One of you even said you cleared out a thousand items from your home this past week. Wow!
At any rate, I finally did get around to finishing up my kitchen and stockpile.
BEFORE — two of my cupboards and household stockpile closet:
AFTER — much better!
So far, I’ve collected three boxes of clutter to give away, throw away and sell. I’m thinking I’ll have gathered up around 15 boxes before my clutter war is over!
Assignments #3-5 in the Clear Out the Clutter Challenge will be posted on Monday through Wednesday of next week… and I’m going to try and work ahead today so that I actually am on track come Thursday morning!
If you’re following along with the Clear Out the Clutter Challenge, make sure to input your results in the Tally Form here so you can be entered to win a prize.

I definitely need to clean/re-organize my kitchen and pantry. I have at least 3 tupperware containers falling out of the cabinets every time I open them. I been meaning to get around to re arranging them. Seeing this post make me feel like there is hope for me and my cabinets…lol. Thanks for the post!

I just cleared out about 400 items for a 2x year cosignment sale, and I inventoried everything with a total potential of $1,500.00!!! This sale is a small one compared to the one I should have had this ready for but I am hoping to make some cash!!!

I cleaned out the playroom today! Thank you SO much for the motivation!!! Why is it so hard to part with the toys they NEVER play with? It is a struggle for me. I feel guilty the whole time!

Do you really only have two sippy cups? I noticed that you dont’ have much in the kitchen cabinet, was it in the dishwasher? or you just don’t have much so it’s easier to keep up with? Do you hand wash since there aren’t many items?
Crystal says
Some of the items were in the dishwasher when this picture was taken! We have 5 sippy cups now and a few more glasses and plates than shown.

We have the same green and purple water bottles! Do you love them as much as I do?! 🙂
I really need to have less stuff in my kitchen cupboards… I think I have too many infrequently-used things 😛
Crystal says
I *love* them and found them thanks to your post. So thank you! No. more. spills!

I’m lucky that my cabinets were emptied when we remodeled my kitchen last month. You can check out the before and after at my blog http://electladys.blogspot.com

Doesn’t it feel amazing to declutter? On Monday evening, while starting to prepare for an upcoming renovation project, my husband and I realized we had enough to have a yard sale. I’m sitting in the back yard, surrounded by the leftovers! I stopped counting at 3,643 items pulled from our house, but we kept going long after that! I’m thrilled to say we made over $450 in our little one day sale! Not bad for one day’s work, and now we have lots to donate to Goodwill.

Good job!! I’ve cleared out several cabinets this past week and have gotten rid of so much already! I’m really in the eliminating mood and am definitely feeling much free-er without so much!

Thanks so much for doing this challenge Crystal! I appreciate the motivation!

I was hoping you’d leave the kitchen for last. It seems to be the most difficult for me to pour over. But, thank you for the motivation!!

Great job, Crystal! I was about to embark on the kitchen challenge when I got a call saying my girlfriend was sick and could I have everyone over at my house for our monthly gathering. I had 24 hours to get ready for a big group! I was thankful I cleaned out my hall closet but wished I had time for the kitchen. Everything went off without a hitch, but it made me realize how important a steady, orderly cleaning is. It makes entertaining much less stressful. And it’s simple, beautiful way to bless yourself and your family too!

It is amazing how freeing it feels to get rid of things 🙂
I had been holding onto my boys clothes from newborn on up – they were born in different seasons and I had a LOT of clothes! All of them were either given to me or purchased for .25 cents at a yard sale – I don’t know WHY I was holding onto them all.
I had a bit of a hoarding feeling about them all a “what if I NEED them again? I don’t want to rebuy these clothes again!!” type feeling. Logical, but not conducive to a clutter free home.
I spent this week going through their clothes and I found what helped me part with things was knowing who I was going to pass the clothes onto – a good friend of mine whose family is planning on going overseas to the mission field has a son a year younger than my youngest so I went through everything with him in mind and found it a joy to pass on items I would otherwise have wanted to hold onto for no reason other than sentiment!
I did keep some items, but cleared out six garbage bags full of boys clothes and reduced my own boys clothes to about 1/4 of what it use to be with plans on cutting even more clothes out as I get braver 🙂
The Lord has blessed us with an abundance of clothes from others and it’s exciting to be able to pass it on to others 🙂

15 boxes of clutter is GREAT. Just think of what you could do with all that extra square footage you’ve just reclaimed. Sometimes, I just like to keep those shelves empty to make me feel more calm.
