My book, Say Goodbye to Survival Mode, comes out on Tuesday (January 21, 2014)! I am SO excited and can’t wait for you to have a copy in your hands!
If you haven’t ordered your copy yet and want a sneak peek at the contents of the book, you can download a free chapter here. In this chapter, I share:
- A little background on why I wrote this book
- My own personal spiral to hitting rock bottom
- The words my husband said when I was in the pit of despair that changed my life
- Why I stopped using my personal Facebook profile
- The importance of creating a Personal Priorities List
- The four C’s to creating margin

Here’s what a reader wrote in about the free chapter a few days ago:
I just read the sample chapter from your new book and I’m not exaggerating when I say it was like I was reading about my own life word for word. I am getting on Amazon to pre-order this now. I really hope that this can help me get back on track!
Slowly but surely, I keep falling further behind. I am a mother to three children, work 30 hours a week outside the home, and my husband is in the marine corps with little to no time at home to help. I feel like I am living in survival mode now just struggling to complete what we need for the next day. Over time, I’ve somehow forgotten who I am.
My daughter asks me what some of my favorite things are and I cannot even answer them anymore. But how can I find myself when I can’t even find my car keys half the time?
Anyway, I am really looking forward to reading your book and trying to find some ways to simplify my life. Thanks for all your help!
If you haven’t ordered your copy of Say Goodbye to Survival Mode yet, you can pre-order your copy on Amazon or through many other retailers here.

I downloaded the free chapter last night and I was pleasantly surprised. I thought it was very well written, and I loved that you weren’t trying to make yourself look like the perfect mom. I’ll definitely be ordering!

I’m sitting here wondering how in the world you made it, seriously. All I do is home school and take care of my 3 kids each day and I feel like you did. My #1 problem is a 12 month old who never sleeps, you never realize how much that one things means to your physical and mental health until you’ve went a year sleeping at best 5 hours a night and the occasional nap when you can fit it in. I don’t have the play dates, business deals or anything else other than a few home school outings here and there and I’m barely surviving… if I added anything else I would be in the looney bin.
I’m glad you wrote this book and I’m excited to read it.

Hello Crystal-It is your favorite long lost Kansas City Friend! Loved the free chapter because it made me feel like we were talking like old times back in Johnson County :). I feel like you spoke right to my heart (and I am sure many other women did too!) I realized a few years ago that I couldn’t do “it” all either. I wasn’t going to be able to home school, manage my health issues, exercise, make my food from scratch, run the family budget, keep up with my now 2 little girls, and try to blog or do something on the side. It just didn’t work for my life. I used to really beat myself up, feeling like I should be doing something “more.” I really appreciate how you wrote this book with situations like this in mind. I can’t wait to get my hands on the entire book!
And THANK YOU for the section on why you left facebook…I have been contemplating a break up with that beast for a while 🙂
Love to you!

SO good to hear from you! Miss you and wish we lived closer!

I really enjoyed reading your intro and first chapter! I think I may have found a typo. In the first full paragraph on page 4, it reads, “As this sickness continued to hit every other week few weeks for four months, I became concerned.”
Maybe I am just reading it wrong! I love your blog and your helpful articles. 😀 Thanks for all you do to help gals like me out!
Crystal says
Yes, we caught that typo awhile back… and it’s getting fixed, it just didn’t get caught before the free chapter was formatted by the publisher. Thanks so much for mentioning it and for your kind encouragement!
Katie says
Oh good, glad to hear it. Congratulations on the book!

This can happen so easily. I recently published my second e-book, and I think I read the draft a hundred times. I also had someone do a final edit. Immediately after the book went live on amazon.com, my sister (an English major) found an error. When I looked at it, I couldn’t believe that something so obvious got past both of us. They say we become blind to our own writing after awhile, and I believe this is true!
Anyway, I love Crystal’s style of writing, and I eagerly await the arrival of her new book.

Hi, being bold. Wondered if I can get a free copy of your printables that you posted about yesterday? I don’t have Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest or a blog but I love putting into practice your money saving ideas. And my library has preordered your book and I’m first in line when it arrives : ). Well, thanks for considering!
