Looking for good non-caffeinated drinks or trying to stop drinking coffee? I’ve tried many coffee alternatives, and this has become my favorite non-coffee drink! It gives me energy naturally, lets me continue the ritual of savoring a hot drink while prepping for my day, and it’s oh-so delicious!

This is the Best Coffee Alternative
I stopped drinking coffee almost four years ago. And while I love drinking decaf teas (see some of my favorite decaf teas here), I’ve also had fun coming up with some other creative non-caffeinated coffee alternatives.
One of them that I concocted last year was a mix of The Morning Motivator and Dandy Blend. I had purchased both of these from Amazon since people told me that were yummy and great substitutes for coffee.
When I tried The Morning Motivator by itself, it tasted too chalky to me. And Dandy Blend tasted too strong by itself. But then I had the crazy idea to mix them together — and I fell instantly in love!
This is sort of like a fancy mocha drink — that’s packed with nutritional value AND it’s caffeine free! Here’s how I make it…
How to make my Healthy Alternative to Coffee
Add 1 to 1 1/2 generous teaspoons of Dandy Blend to a large mug.
Then, add 1 heaping teaspoon of The Morning Motivator.
Mix together.
Pour boiling water over.
Stir until blended.
Top with a very generous amount of half & half (if you’re a cream person like me!)
Stir and enjoy!
This is the perfect morning or afternoon pick-me-up drink!
My favorite way to drink my Coffee Alternative
Want to make it really fancy? Top it with whipped cream (and maybe chocolate shavings?) or go all gourmet and use Reddi-Whip Sweet Foam! (Note: This whipped cream is really sweet… so if you don’t like sugar-y things, you won’t like it.)
My Favorite Coffee Alternative Drink
- 1 to 1 1/2 generous teaspoons of Dandy Blend
- 1 heaping teaspoon of The Morning Motivator
- Boiling water
- Half & Half (optional)
- Whipped cream or Sweet Foam (optional)
Mix together The Morning Motivator and Dandy Blend in a large mug. Pour boiling water over. Stir. Add half & half to taste. Top with whipped cream. Enjoy!

The morning motivator isn’t available on Amazon right now. Do you have a suggestion for a substitute?

Any chance these products are vegan?
Jordan says
I just checked our packages and The Morning Motivator is labeled vegan on the packaging. The Dandy Blend has no animal products in the ingredient list. It’s all dried plant extracts. I hope that helps! -Jordan, MSM Team

Can you please tell me about how long these last you?
Crystal Paine says
It depends upon how often you drink it and how much you use, but these bags usually last me a few months or more. The large bag of Dandy blend will last a year for me, actually!

I, too, would love the name and website of the nutritionist that you used, please! Also, I want to clarify the amounts you use in this recipe. When you say teaspoons, and going by the pictures, you’re using your silverware spoon as your teaspoon, correct? I used an actual teaspoon to try this recipe and it’s not quite right. I SO want to like this! I’m suffering from major hot flashes/ hormonal issues that I’ve heard maca is great for. Could you please clarify on the teaspoon amounts?

Cheap, wonderful drink: Chunk up watermellon in the blender. You can add a can of limeaide concentrate, but we like it best plain. Buzz it on the blender each time you serve.

What is the website name and your nutritionist…..?…Looking back would you use them again or do you have a different option that maybe isn’t as expensive?

Dandy Blend lasts a long time. The 2 pound bag if you use one tsp per cup is about 450 servings or about 6 cents a cup. As long as you keep the bag sealed, it stays in good condition for a couple of years.

This is super intriguing! The Dandy Blend is priced about $25 on Amazon. Is that the typical price? The Morning Motivator is sold out, so there’s no price listed. What does it go for typically? Just trying to wrap my brain around how you can manage to snag these types of items while living within your $70/wk grocery budget! 😃

I only drink this maybe once or twice a week/max… it’s a special treat! 🙂 And not sure if you saw Joanne’s comments, but one bag of Dandy Blend will last for over 400 servings!

I love your hair in these photos, Crystal! 🙂 It’s so cute! 🙂 I also love your top; it reminds me of a Japanese Kimono robe [I totally love those]! 🙂 Be encouraged.

Thank you so much! It’s my sweatshirt that I got from Amazon and have shared about here and worn over and over again!

Thank you for recommending The Morning Motivator. I’ve tried Maca Powder because I know it’s high in nutrition, but I had a hard time getting past the taste. With the ingredients listed in the blend of the Morning Motivator, I think this will work out pretty well. I already do like Dandy Blend if I have milk in it. This will be a good blend together, and a good start to my day.

Just a note, if any of your readers have ragweed allergies – dandelion can set of their allergies. Luckily I found that out this spring before trying to make something from the bumper crop we had in our neighborhood this year. I do not know if the allergies are just from the flower or from the entire plant. But I am also allergic to melons for the same reason.
