Every week day in May, I’m challenging my readers to try to find at least 7 things to get rid of. These can be big or small things, it doesn’t matter. What matters is that you actually throw them out, sell them, donate them, recycle them, or find someone else who can use them. Think you’re up for the challenge?
I’m speaking in Pennsylvania today, so I worked ahead on the challenge. 🙂
Today’s things I got rid of:
- 8 books
- 1 notebook/binder
How did your clutter-busting go today? Link up your blog post and/or Instagram pictures below. Or, leave a comment telling us how many things you got rid of. Let’s clear our homes of clutter so we can be more productive and efficient!

I am not finding postings from the weekend…? were there none, is it just for the weekdays?
This weekend I got rid of:
1 pair socks, 2 bras, 1 can of expired beans (yikes), a kohl’s sale catalog with coupons I did not get to use, easter candy, Key fob/id case, and I cleaned out my fridge, which yielded ingredients for a yummy vegetable soup that I made Saturday night 🙂
Crystal says
I’m only posting on weekdays since I don’t post much on Saturdays and I take Sundays off from blogging.

I took 28 items of gently worn clothing and shoes to a local consignment shop. They were gladly accepted for resale.
It’s a good feeling to have the extra room in my closet, and I will be happy to pick up a check when the items are sold.
FMR says
pair of too small slacks–given to someone who can fit in them
envelope of stickers–for a friend’s grandchildren
a pair of shoes–donated
two decorative glass jar tops. Haven’t seen the jars in over a year
73 bottles to recycling center
a trash bag of plastic bags to the recyling center

Can I just say that even your clutter looks neat (in each photo, at least)? I’m going through the house one room at a time this summer and organizing and decluttering. The master bedroom and both bathrooms are done. I’m pretty excited about this. The hardest thing about getting rid of things for me, is thinking we might need it later. ugh… I have to get over that.

Today was my first day. Cleaned out two of my daughters clothing drawers and a drawer in the bathroom. Found lots of stuff to sell at our next yard sale or toss.

I know when I get in one of those moods I just need to go with it. I haven’t been following your daily 7 but I have been thinking about what to get rid of. Today I got rid of 1o pairs of underware, 8 pairs of socks and a bra all from one drawer… really not sure how that many items fit in there!

I got rid of 7 items today and 57 for the whole week! I’m really enjoying this challenge. While I’ve been reducing clutter, I’ve also been organizing things as I go. I’m not able to post a daily update, but I’ve been writing a weekly update on my blog: http://www.vanessasvalues.blogspot.com/2013/05/clutter-busting-challenge-week-2-this.html

Over the last few days, I’ve gotten rid of a couple hundred old headshots of clients; several old notebooks; and outdated pantry items, plus repurposed some office supplies and created 9 (!) binders to organize various projects.
Ann says
Totally not the place for this … but I heard you on the radio today! I live in PA and our local Christian radio station interviewed you!
Crystal says
I did that interview live at their booth at CHAP today! Just for fun, I posted a picture here: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151444637743227&set=a.475550193226.258436.129449563226&type=1

Today’s write-up is titled “food edition” for good cause… I cleaned out the fridge and the pantry. Some stuff was set aside for the food pantry and will be donated on Saturday. Other items were tossed or composted. It is embarrassing to see how many expired food items were in my pantry. I posted pictures to shame myself into never allowing this to happen again!
Anna (Frugal For You) says
It’s hard for me to let go of books! Good job keeping up with the challenge even while out of town.
