Our original plan was just to buy a few things at Walmart since it’s close by. However, we ended up justifying a trip to Aldi a couple of days later. I’m really glad we did, because there were some crazy low, unadvertised produce prices, as well as cheap milk!

We just moved to Germany last year and the price of our weekly grocery shopping for our family of three (soon to be four) is really high! I buy most groceries online and plan all meals a week in advance. I find meat and fish is particularly expensive. Even the Aldi over here doesn’t seem as good value as in the US.

We lived in Taiwan for two years, and it was really expensive to eat at home (but crazy cheap to eat out at most restaurants!?!?!). It didn’t make sense at all to me. Yes, you absolutely have to adapt your expectations and ideals to whatever sitatuation you find yourself in.

We had crazy prices at our Aldi, too. .39# red grapes and bags of navel oranges were .69 each. Produce in general was just less than the regular prices.
Brigette Shevy says
WOW!!! And I thought ours were cheap! That’s awesome for you.

I love these posts! We aren’t finding the deals at all- the opposite sadly- but those are awesome! I’m assuming this is a typo, but the .89 milk salsa made me laugh! Unless there actually is a thing called milk salsa… I have been known to live under a rock before so no guarantees! 😉

Oh dear – thanks for catching that for me! Yikes!
