Thank you for sharing the Cabbage Roll in a bowl recipe. It was delicious! Traditional cabbage rolls are too labor intensive… but this whipped up in a snap. I also have extra rice in the pantry, so I was glad for a new recipe to use it up. 💗
You’re welcome! I’m so glad you liked them. My husband LOVES cabbage rolls – so I was looking for something a little easier to throw together. We enjoyed them too!
I think it would be interesting to see what the comparison costs would be for these groceries if bought name brand. Also, do you think there are noticeable flavor differences between the store brand / Aldi and the national brands?? I mean I know I personally will NOT buy store brand ketchup / deli meat / chips but other than that I can be swayed.
Yes, it would be fun for me to do a comparison post sometime! The only other store I shop at regularly is Harris Teeter (mostly coupon deals), but I would guess their regular prices are almost twice as much overall!! I’m kind of a food snob (my family calls it “prissy”🤣), but many of the Aldi brands I actually prefer over the name brands – but not everything, haha!! I can’t vouch for everything, but you might be pleasantly surprised on a few of the things you mentioned…their kettle chips are great, their gluten-free pretzels are the best, and one of their deli meats is my favorite (vs comparable versions of name brands). I feel like Aldi has continued to make improvements/upgrades in their products during the 10 years I’ve shopped there.
My mom shopped at Aldi when I was a kid, and I was not impressed since my grandma always had name-brand foods(which tasted MUCH better at the time). Fast forward to 2020, and I feel very differently. Like she said, Aldi has really upped their game. I generally like Cape Cod kettle chips. Aldi’s brand is very comparable. The only reason I don’t mind trying things is their money back or replacement policy. For our family, the one thing we haven’t liked is their peanut butter. Their honey wheat twisted pretzels(big container for the price) are hands-down better than any name-brand. Their cauliflower always gets rave reviews from my crew when I cook it. Every time, my kids ask, “This is the Aldi cauliflower, right, Mom?”
